He also went by Richie Allen for a while. At least us old timers would remember that. I saw him play and everything came off his bat hard.

When he came into the league in 64-65, there was still a lot of racism so he demanded he be called Dickk because Richie sounded like a 10 year old to him.

A great player who had to fight a lot of injustice during his career. One of the biggest hall of fame snubs as well. RIP to a legend.
