I don’t know how they come up with speed for those old guys, no one does. All I know is you post this once a month and there is clearly a reason they haven’t changed it. With Mookies speed and Verlanders Velocity there was clear evidence that is should be changed. Mookie had lower speed in game then the guys around him on the sprint speed list, plus finest are known to be juiced anyway. People seen Verlander throw 100 in 2011 consistently with their own eyes. I’m just saying you are wasting your time posting this again. Seems like you are the only one Passionate about Musials speed. No one else really cares. You just aren’t going to have much luck unless there is Massive outcry, which won’t happen because Musial was released months ago

Well, it would be nice if the community would rally behind this cause. Musial deserves it.
But still, I’m not really posting this to hear a bunch of “I-Don’t-Knows” from the community. I’d like to hear from SDS as to how they came up with 47 speed for Musial but, say, 65 speed for Jimmie Foxx.
The community doesn’t know. Y’all are just saying you don’t care.
Okay. Fine. Don’t care. That’s your prerogative. But I do care, and this is my crusade. I want answers. Either stand beside me or get out of my way.
The apathy of the community, and the unwavering, blind defense of the injustice committed against Musial is crazy to me. Y’all already said you don’t know.
But instead of saying, “Yeah, SDS. Explain how you came up with speed attributes for pre-statcast guys,” you say, “Shut up, dude. No one cares.”

First, Mookie Betts is not a speed demon. Mookie steals bases because he’s an extremely smart base runner. He reads pitchers as well as anybody possibly can and exploits that. But if you were going to put him in a foot race with say Mondesi or Acuna or even Billy Hamilton he is going to lose embarrassingly bad. Many of these ballparks had enormous outfields (power ally’s that were 400 plus, center fields that were 450 plus. Yet the lines were 270. That was the beauty of these ballparks, how asymmetrical they were. So Musial just exploited the dimensions of many of these ballparks to his benefit. So quit whining about something as superfluous as Musials speed attribute.

Fair enough. But if in this game, you want to steal a bag with Mookie, you would need more than 62 speed, correct?
If SDS would have left Mookie at 62 and boosted his Stealing attribute to 99, he’d still get thrown out more times than not.
So what we know is that, with regard to baserunning and stealing, if we want the cards to perform somewhat like they do in real life, the Speed attribute is most important. It far outweighs the Stealing and Baserunning Aggressiveness attributes.
It’s the same thing with Musial. If we want him to be able to hit triples, which he did in real life more than every card in this game besides Cobb and Honus (who both began playing before the invention of the frickin automobile) he needs more than 47 speed. His card represents his MVP season of 1948, in which he was the league leader with 18 triples (and a 70% success rate on stolen bases as well).

You obviously didn't research any of this, I did in one of these posts before. Musial played in similar dimension parks as Ruth, Gehrig, and Foxx. Some of those stadiums had moved their fences in from the Ruth days. So if the parks and eras are similar, why is Musial the odd man out and the others are over 60 speed.
There is no discernable difference between them except for steal attempts in which Musial was only marginally behind Ruth and Foxx, virtually identical to Gehrig.

I’m not even a Cardinals fan. Before this video game and his MVP card this year, I didn’t even know much about Stan Musial other than his nickname being “The Man.”
It was only when he was released in this game that I started researching him. I saw his hitting attributes and I was like, “Wow. Dude must have been a special player.”
I saw his only downside was speed. Then I saw how many triples this guy roped and I knew SDS did him dirty.
Needless to say, I am now a big fan of “The Man.”

I applaud you for your efforts, but what I learned a long time ago (and I've said this many times before and I'll keep saying it) is that if you expect clear communication from SDS about game mechanics/decisions/reasoning or logic, you'll end up feeling thoroughly disappointed each and every time.

Whether you want to believe the facts (ball parks during his era were larger and far more asymmetrical than current ones, that is a fact) is on you. How about you actually do your research before actually attacking others. And sportsman’s park was 420 to centerfield for your information. A slow catcher could get a triple to that part of the ballpark. So shut your whining mouth kid.

And I get that, and don’t really disagree with the OP, as Stan should probably have speed somewhere around where Babe, Foxx, Gehrig are. I just Think it’s a lost cause on increasing stans speed as it was 53 in 18 and 19 and 47(50 when prestiged) now. It’s just too late for anything to happen with it

Hey tough guy, please actually do some research lmao. Ruth and Gehrig had most of their AB's in stadiums such as The Original Yankee stadium, you know the house that Ruth built, was 490ft to center field League Park was 460ft to Center, Shibe Park was 515ft to CF until 1925, and Tiger Stadium was 440ft to CF.
Gehrig, Ruth, Foxx, etc. all played in similarly sized parks. Musial hit as many doubles and triples as them, if not more. If SB number are similar as are the parks they played in, how does Stan get 48 speed while the others are over 60?

If anything, triples is a fantastic measure of speed for classic players pre-stat-cast. Not saying Musial needs to be a 90.....but given the triples stat alone he should be in the high 60's/low 70's.
