The Cubs have agreed to a deal with right-hander Shelby Miller.
The non-guaranteed contract will pay Miller $875K if he makes Chicago’s big league roster, with another $600K available in bonus money. (MLBTR) -

[Liesbeth] The Mets have made a 5 year offer to George Springer in the 120 million range. From what I’ve heard, Blue Jays offer is close to or higher than that. We will likely find out the final outcome in the coming days

Mets Fire GM Jared Porter
ESPN came out with a story late last night claiming Mets GM Jared Porter sent explicit images to a female reporter when he worked for the Chicago Cubs.Mets owner Steve Cohen announced he was terminated.
This marks the second time in a year that the Mets let a new hire go before even working one game. Both times the acts that caused a firing happened under another team’s watch. Last year Carlos Beltran was fired on January 16 after being named in the Astros sign stealing scandal. Now Porter on January 19 has been fired for an incident that happened a few years back with Chicago.

I'm hoping that's sarcasm, because otherwise, that's a ridiculous statement. He's batted .327 and .364 his 2 seasons as a Yankee, won Silver Sluggers both seasons. Unless the Yankees now play in Coors I'm missing something. Also, to minimize what he did In Colorado to just being a product of Coors is insanity, I totally don't see how the elevation played into his 3 Gold Gloves. He's an elite two way player.
No you don't understand. He will never succeed outside of Colorado. He is a product of Coors field and won't be able to put up those kind of numbers outside of it.

I reeeeeeeally like the Cohen guy. He hasn't been in the league long, but he may be the best owner in baseball with everything he has done so far.
