Its no secret the more you face better competition, the higher your ERA will be. I’m slightly below 4.00 ERA and I consider that outstanding for someone who makes WS regularly. If I kept onplaying, I’m sure I’d match against goons that would destroy my pitching but I usually stop after making WS since my hitting isn’t all that great to hang with the elite. I get by on my pitching
Some goons in the 1000’s rating can hit anything inside the strike zone al over the field. I’m not one of those
That could be very well it. A lot of those guys are very good. I would think at least, that at that level, they would have at least decent ERAs though. Maybe I’m wrong, but shouldn’t there be some players with high averages, some with low ERAs and some with both instead of almost all with high averages and high ERAs?
Well that’s the thing, it’s very simple. Pitching is alot harder than hitting in this game. Some of these goons can hit any pitch in any area. If the average BA in the top50 is .350, it’s very normal to see the ERA’s of these guys being extremely high too. Anyone can dot a pitch in one area but very few can hit it consistently everytime. Pitching is much harder than hitting

I would hope in that case that they would need hitting some in order to balance out the gameplay a bit more. Get it closer to realistic levels. I’m going to get a lot of heat for that opinion, but I like the simulated aspects of this game, and right now, it’s way to arcady for my liking
Sorry for the double quote. I don’t know why it’s doing that lol
I completely get what you’re saying. But it’s hard for SDS to make a game to cater to all gamers. Look at the endless posts about hitting being broken and people struggling to score on HoF while goons like @mitchhammond24 hate playing on HOF because they post double digit runs everytime.
There are alot more people that play below 700 rating than those who play above that. Those who struggle to get to HOF have a hard time scoring runs
I meant to say “nerf” hitting. [censored] autocorrect. But yeah, probably my problem. Hitting is more fun for more people. I like pitching, so the game might not be for me anymore
It should never be a one or the other choice. As you said, if one side is favoured over the other, the game isn’t balanced correctly. Good pitching should beat good hitting in baseball. Too many foul balls, too many home runs, too much contact generally on all star. HoF is slightly better, but still not perfect. I can’t speak to legend, I’ve rarely played that difficulty H2H.
It’s funny, up until a couple of months ago I was complaining about the opposite problem. Seemed like it was so hard to score runs And get hits. Then its like someone flipped a switch in October and now every game has high scores For both me and my opponent. Maybe I just complain too much And need to play something else

Could also be the extreme number of cards that are juiced now too. Lately I’ve seen so many horrible swing (early swings on outside offspeed pitches) getting bailed out its unreal. I just laugh it off and move on but every lineup is filled with guys with 100+ power/contact and everything gets punished it seems whereas if you missed your spot to a guy with 70/80 power two months ago, probably resulted in a lazy flyball

I think you’re right. Like I said, hitting is more fun than pitching for a lot of people, and to keep people interested in the game this late in the cycle, they have to cater the game more to hitting. Would be nice to have some juiced pitchers though.

Congratulations on your success mashing the ball. However, any baseball video game where the top players all have ERAs in the 6s and 7s is horribly out of balance.
my ERA is 2.20 with over 80 RS games played - my record in RS is based on my great pitching, purely in AS mode keep in mind - not my hitting
your premise doesn't work though i applaud your effort
How does my premise not work? You just gave one personal example, one data point to “prove” that my premise was flawed. You could just be an outlier (and a great pitcher to boot). You’ll have to show me more data, but from what I’m seeing, the vast majority of the top players have extremely high ERAs indicating an imbalance in the game play
Your 80 ranked games and 4 this season (when all the cards with absurd hitting stats came out) show a very small sample size, play a few more games this season, especially once you get into the 600s, 700s and 800s and see if your argument still holds up. If it does, then let me watch some of your gameplay, because I obviously need to be taking pitching lessons.
yeah of course its a small sample size - normally i enjoy your posts so its not a go at you - i just think you are over thinking all of this - its a videogame, if you like playing it great, if not find a new one.
no game is ever going to be exactly to your liking, you just need to recalibrate your expectations
-
Pitching is broken is why the era is so high for anyone that plays above 800. I use analog and can be perfect on my release and aim, the ball will then end up in the middle of the zone, or even in the zone. The black isn’t given this year. I can make perfect pitches and they’re called a ball. Outer pci is broke, I can foul off pitches nowhere near my pci, it’s a way to bail out people that are swinging at bad pitches. Then check swings need to be toned way down. I can check swing on pitches all game even when I’m fooled horribly.
-
Well if hitting works and rewards good user input this is never gonna change. There are just some people who can hit everything.

No harm no foul. And I wasn’t being sarcastic about taking pitching lessons from you either. If you can succeed kn this high offense environment, Id love to watch you play and maybe pick up a few things.

i know that @LankyRyan has a wonderful discord group - we are all in there if you want to join it would be great to have you in - i agree with your premise and i wish pitching was more important too - i also currently have tons of guys sub 1 ERA, sub 2 ERA, chapman LS for example online over 80 IP sub 1 ERA on AS mostly
i hear you on playing higher levels where the real big boys hit the dingers - im sure my ERA would rise if i played more - i just dont have time to get so many games in this year
-
Hitting doesn't need a nerf imo, we don't want to go back to mlb 19 the lineout. The quite simple fix is if I get good input on my pitch, it should go where I wanted it. I, like you, enjoy pitching more, but nerfing people who consistently get good input on swings is never the answer.

Hmmm, well this is what you said in my previous post, and I quote, "I’ve hardly ever had forced meatballs on anything remotely close to good input. I don’t know what you guys use as interface or what you do, but like @OreoRockstar said, when I miss, its because I did it wrong and felt it even before the pitch release."
So, isn't that the same thing? lol

So, isn't that the same thing? lol
If you interpret that as me saying its perfect, then reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit. Pitching needs some fixes for sure but I’ll stand by my claim that if I aim a 4SFB on the black in upper left corner and have perfect input, it doesn’t magically appear right in the middle of the plate. It just doesn’t. If it happened to you or anyone else, I wanna see it. Why is that so hard to understand?

Its no secret the more you face better competition, the higher your ERA will be. I’m slightly below 4.00 ERA and I consider that outstanding for someone who makes WS regularly. If I kept onplaying, I’m sure I’d match against goons that would destroy my pitching but I usually stop after making WS since my hitting isn’t all that great to hang with the elite. I get by on my pitching
Some goons in the 1000’s rating can hit anything inside the strike zone al over the field. I’m not one of those
After reading @MHHW33 and @eatyum post on this page, I think I'll save myself the time from sending you a video regarding your belief that pitching isn't broken.
No worries, I never expected you to post any anyway. Weird how nobody posts any but whatever

Not hard to understand at all. Like you, if I aim a 4SFB on the corner and have perfect input, and it doesn't magically appear right in the middle of the plate, then to me, pitching is perfectly fine, because the pitch is actually going where I had intended for it to.
So unless I'm missing something, it sounds like you're the one who has the weak suit in reading comprehension. Curious what fixes you think pitching needs then?

LOL oh man what a prize you are. I guess everytime you pitch its a meatball then? Fact is you never had any videos to post to support your claim. Clearly you have an agenda to push your point and if you had any videos to show me, you’d be so quick to post them just to shut me up but you don’t.
Instead you’re trying to put words in my mouth I never said. I never once claimed it was perfect, not once. All I said is I never saw what you claim and thanks to you, I still haven’t.
And sure, I’ll play along! I’d like the analog to go faster on pitchers with lower control or as they fatigue. I’d love for input to be harder to hit if you throw with maximum effort (in the red). I’d love for velocity and/or accuracy to be nerfed when pitchers are extremely fatigued.
Those are things I’d like to see for pitching, that’s my subjective opinion. Still waiting to see some great videos!

No, not a meatball everytime, but definitely feels like on an excessive level.
I absolutely agree with the fixes you suggested. I just find it amazing that you never experienced pitches going over the middle of the plate when you had perfect input aiming for the corners.
I use analog as well. But even if I post videos, I feel that it would be subjective because if the pitch location gets shanked somehow and you know you went perfectly up and down on the joystick per the meter, how is that proof? Anyhow, I have no reason to think you're lying, but I strongly feel that you're in the minority group. I just wish, like the rest of us, could be in your shoes and have the same experience with perfect input and consistently go there is all I'm saying.

LOL.
I dare you to say that to @mitchhammond24 .
