Best cards between 500k and 999k

After getting through TA4 and selling off excess inventory, I have a ton of stubs. Are there any super-expensive cards I should buy? I probably won't be able to get any of the 1m cards (Chipper, etc.).
This is mainly for fun - I have most cards except for the really pricey ones, and the ones I'll never get because I won't go 12-0, make WS, etc.
Thanks!

Goose, Teddy BJ, Eddie Mathews, Chris Sale, Rickey Henderson, and Christy Mathewson all come to mind as guys who are super expensive but haven't reached that magical 1m yet. I would act fast, because people are overflowing with stubs in TA4 and I bet a lot of those bros get to 1m eventually. Last week, Gary Carter and JD were both under 1m, and now Gary is at 1m with 13 buy orders and Donaldson is 1m with 10 buy orders.
(And good luck on that Gary Carter -- there have only been 2 sold in the past 3ish weeks. That's probably one of the rarest cards in the game this year!)
-
Chris Sale for sure. Maybe Goose Gossage too.
-
very short list to choose from but Ted is awesome and everyone loves goose so
-
Goose Gossage
Chris Sale
Ted Williams
Albert Pujols
Mike Piazza -
Flush with stubs like everyone else it seems, I have just about every card though most have been acquired in last week+ so not a ton of gameplay.
Definitely agree on Rickey Henderson, Piazza and Ted Williams. Only a matter of time before Gossage is a million as he is 110% legit and not sure why anyone would sell him. Best RHP reliever IMO and it’s not close.

Completely agree about Gossage. Got him yesterday and he has been lights out. So yes i've locked him in.
Going after Sale and Williams when i hit 2 million again

This is a good point that I really hadn't thought of yet, some of these cards reaching the magical 1m mark. Out of the cards you mentioned Sale is the one I've had my eye on for a while. I already have Goose and the others I'm not sure I would have a spot for on my team, but I do like Sale. I've been watching his price and just a few days ago he was in the high 300k range. I was waiting in hopes that it would continue to drop a little but instead the opposite happened, and he's now going for about 620k!
Two things. One, is he worth 620k in your opinion and in the opinion of anyone else who has used him in RS? Two, do you see his price continuing to rise from here on out until he does hit that magical 1m mark?

I can't comment about how good he is in RS. I'm not a competitive player at all. I needed him for my All-time White Sox team, and he has been good for me in offline and occasional RS or events (though those are pretty rare).
And yes, I definitely see him getting to 1m. Stubs are unbelievably easy to come by as it is, and TA4 has just flooded the market. People are just buying whatever because they have a ton of stubs and no reason to save them. Once he reaches 1m then you're on the waiting list, and that's no fun. I would snatch him up now and then you can always sell him (likely for a tidy profit) later on down the road.

Definitely don't want to be on the waiting list. I just got on the waiting list for Bob Feller and Willie Mays yesterday and I have no idea if I'll even get either one of them before the game cycle runs out. TA4 certainly has flooded the market, sure wish I would have pulled the trigger on Sale about a week ago when he was sitting around 380k but oh well. Still better off getting him at 620k than being on a waiting list for a million!

Mathewson is expensive because no one played the dead ball event. By no means should anyone take him into an RS game

Have you or anybody else on here used him much? I have eyeballed him for a while and never pulled the trigger.

Never had this many stubs myself. Trying to decide between Albert or Sale.

No I haven’t used him but he was the worst 99 overall pitcher in the game last year and this year curves are even less effective so I imagine he isn’t real good

I mean I love Chris Sale, he’s my favourite pitcher in the game today and I’d happily pay 1m for his 99 every year, but your opinion may differ. The reason he’s rising is because Willie Mays is the other choice and he’s staying at 1m for a while. The other cards in the pack aren’t being chosen, so the supply is in decline. Eventually they’ll balance, once the Willie Mays orders have calmed down and I think the WS rewards will settle around 450k long term. It’s a bad time to be buying WS rewards and a good time to be selling them, really.
The way I see it you can pay the 620k now and use Sale. Or, you can wait 6-8 weeks, save 200k and not get to use him half as much, because the game will be further towards being over with. I’d pull the trigger now, it’s easy to get more stubs.

Thanks for the input! I agree with you, I'd rather pay what he's going for now and use him immediately than wait 6-8 weeks to simply save 200k. I'm assuming you play a lot of RS and Sale has done really well for you since you mention he's your favorite pitcher?

He’s 27-12 with a 2.76 ERA and a WHIP of 0.73. Considering I’ve played all star a lot, that’s impressive, but not as impressive as the fact opposing batters are hitting .171 against him, split .165 vs RHB and .183 vs LHB. The most jaw dropping stat for me and one that’s always consistently high with this card from year to year is the strikeouts. 390 of them in 260 2/3 IP to be exact. This translates to a frankly incredible 13.465 K/9 and it’s not an insignificant sample size. This is off the charts for a starting pitcher and would be incredible for a closer, who’s job it is to come in and close down three batters, often by way of strikeouts thanks to their lights out stuff that’s designed to shut down an inning. Sale is doing that all game long. I’ve used him a lot over the years and I’ve developed a style I’m comfortable with when using him, but that doesn’t mean other people won’t also enjoy success with the card. The fact he stands out in terms of what he’s achieved online despite pitching being absolutely horrific this year says a lot.

Those are some impressive stats for sure. Thanks for sharing. My guess is that he is one of those cards that you kind of have to develop a style and learn to pitch with. He doesn't have the greatest mix of pitches but I can see with his funky deliver, those two fastballs, slider and change he could be very effective for some. I tend to pitch pretty well with other pitchers that have this pitch mix also. It's mostly the relievers that are fastball/slider pitchers like Sale but I tend to well with them. I've got a buy order in for him right now so hopefully I can get him for what I have up there. I do want to get him and I'd rather get him sooner than later if his price will be a million stubs in the very near future. Thanks for the input and your thoughts on him man, I appreciate it.
