Anyone having problems with disconnects? I've lost 3 BR games in a row due to disconnects. My PS4 is hardwired and my speed is around 700Mb down, and 30Mb up. What gives?

If you keep getting the loss after disconnects I am assuming there is some sort of network congestion in your home network, which results in packet losses which will then result in disconnects.

What you wanna do is unplug the internet cable from your ps4 and plug it into a laptop or PC. While you're at it, check the physical condition of the cable from start to finish to make sure it's not faulty.

Then go to DSLreports.com and run a few speed tests. What you're looking for is your average latency and your average bufferbloat. The test on the website will grade your connection on both.
If those tests result in either high latency or high bufferbloat(or both), then there's your problem. Start looking for ways to fix that.

If the tests turn out fine, you could tweak some settings in your router. For example, static IP your PS4 and forward ports to change your NAT type. As easier way (but a little more unreliable) to do this is enable the option called UPnP In your router. This will do the port forwarding automatically. Or put your PS4 in the so called DMZ (does the same thing as port forwarding, but puts the device at more risk because you basically work the PS4 around your firewall).

Lastly if you have a router that uses some sort of Quality of Service (Netgear), an option where you can set priorities to devices in your network, set your PS4 to highest priority and other heavy media devices to low. But based on your download and upload speeds, this really should not matter too much as this is most effective for people who have lower bandwidth.

Home networking might be a little complicated if you're new to the topic but it's really not that hard and all the information is available online. I do think that's what you should do and somewhere in there lies your problem.

    Good luck!

Random question. Any preferably router/modem combo that you recommend? Do modem’s that have built in routers work better even if you use Ethernet? I’m just trying to figure this out as well as I get disconnected daily and I have good speeds. I plan to run the test you recommended and go from there. I did replace my Ethernet cable and my cable company replaced a lot of fittings etc. haven’t had a chance to play yet though. If that doesn’t work I’m going to try a new modem/Router.

It's usually preferable to use the modem your ISP provides you with, let them put it in bridge mode and then use a consumer router as your main hub. There are some great affordable routers out there, even ones designed specifically for gaming by using certain algorithms. I can recommend a Netgear router, pick a model based on your preferences and how heavy your home network is. Nighthawk series are great. They are reliable, relatively easy to configure and have good support.

Thank you. I’m off work tomorrow and plan to try and figure out once and for all why I get network errors most days even with good speeds. I want to play better with The Show 20 and not getting network errors will help me in that regard.
