@thepapadell said in PS4 speed test? Getting way less than I should:
I pay for 350 down and up to 15 up and I almost always pull 120-160 down and 5 or below up. This past week my up has been like 2.
When I test my Xbox it's pretty much what I should be getting with sub 20 ping.
Ports forwarded. Everything I know how to do and it doesn't ever matter.
I’m only getting 60 down , I can’t get it to budge, is there something else I can do? I’ve restarted, switched form lan to WiFi and back to lan. I mean every other device in my house is reading above 400 but the ps4 is reading 60? There is a disclaimer that says speeds might not be accurate but Jesus that pretty far off.
Or is it accurate and my ps4 is just garbage -
Again, ps4s are just garbage for network connection. You can change your DNS to google, don’t remember exactly what it is, but that usually helps a bit.

I tried the google DNS switch and I still can’t get over 70/6, can anyone pull over that or is this like the cap on the ps4. I can’t fathom why the ps4 is only able to utilize like 1/8th of my internet speed ????
-
ping is what matters anyway. i got 50-70 down and 5-10 up but no matter what my pings stays at around 51-59

I range from 75-300 depending on various factors, with most of the time getting around 200 up and down.

Huh did you customize any settings? Wired or WiFi..... I get over 400 on every other device and I can’t figure out why the ps4 is reading so low

Wired, fiber optic. I've tried different settings including changing DNS to Google, Open DNS, and Cloudflare among others. I've had best speed with TDS DNS settings though. On previous cable ISP'S I had better speed with Cloudflare and reducing MTU a little. Now I dont need to worry about MTU though.

So when I run a speed test on my ps4 it’s saying 60 download and 4 upload - wired!
But I have 400 meg internet - when I speed test my laptop or my cell phone, even in WiFi I’m Pulling well over 400 down and 70 up- is this a glitch in the ps4 speed test or can the unit literally only pull 70 down and 5 up????
When I switch to WiFi over lan it still tops out at 70 and 6 .... anyone else? Is my ps4 trash?
It's all about the NIC (network interface card). Sony went cheap with it. You'll never pull the speed you pay for on a console. PC otoh is a different story.
-
The PS severe probably can't support anything over 70.
-
When I upgraded my internet earlier this year, I noticed the same thing. Can pull the high speeds every other way, but PS4 was always like 60ish.
-
I am pretty sure it is just because the PS test doesnt download a large enough file for the test. It goes so fast there is no way it is accurate. It doesnt give your connection time to get going.

Sounds like if you plan to play 21 you should do it on an Xbox and might get an advantage online? Makes sense since Xbox is made by Microsoft.

Just to add to what I said 2 post back. Download something that is a little larger, like a game. Then check and see how fast it is downloading. Mine is usually top speed for sure. It is just on that little test thing the file isnt large enough.
-
I had the same thing happen. I recommend getting a wifi booster. I got an eero. Let me know if this helps!
-
The ps4 speeds will always be lower because of the hardware. I have 1gb download and 50 upload but it still has me at around 100 or more download. It varies everyday even with cloudfare dns 1.1.1.1 ,1.0.0.1.

i get 20 down, 6 up and I never get booted
