I noticed some things the other day when playing. I typically try to hit edges, keep the ball low and move it around switchibg speeds but lately Ive been getting lit up by some guys on balls at the edges, or slightly outside. Pitches around the middle are getting more swing and misses and pop outs.

Do you guys think it's easier to hit pitches at the edges vs. Pitches around the middle? If a ball is at the edges it's pretty much all or nothing with the stick, but around the middle you need smaller movements and more fine control.

Perhaps my pitching strategy has been misguided.

Now of course pitches down the middle are usually destroyed, but I was thinking about pitches on the edge. I give up more perfect perfect homeruns or hits that aren’t on the zone.

I think hitters tend to look for pitches in the corners or on the edge of the zone. If you mix in some strikes less on the edge, people are inclined to have more to look for, but it's also a better chance to get an accidental HR on those pitches.

I occasionally have that issue. Maybe the hitter (CPU is what I usually deal with) just sits where I'm pitching sometimes, I dunno. But I do seem to think that the game likes to screw up my pitching. Sometimes it lags and makes me press the button at the wrong time, making me too early or late.

What really grinds my gears is when I aim a pitch just outside the black or right on the black, and the CPU batter crushes it, because for some reason the pitch decides to go right down the middle. This happens with fastballs and breaking balls—just any pitch. Does the ball just have a mind of its own and goes to the batter's wheelhouse just to spite me? It really caused some setbacks as I was doing the All-Timers program.

If your opponent has a slow swing throw hard inside. If your opponent is consistently early and trying to pull everything, pitch off speed away. If you feel they’re just centre swinging, pitch slightly up and away to induce pop ups and fly outs. Don’t be repetitive or predictable. Pitch situationally, try to anticipate contact and ensure the kind of contact you want - It’s no good having a shift on if you pitch against it. Just basic pitching stuff.

I think it’s part of judging your opponent. Sometimes I think I find opponents that like to jam the PCI to the edges, so I’ll pitch more in the zone (not middle-middle). Tend to get pop ups and ground balls that way. Some opponents can’t handle anything on the edges.
