I think i have to hang it up. I reached World Series multiple times last year and can’t get to it this year at all. After reading here and watching YouTube for tips, I get into these horrible slumps where I can’t touch a fastball. Meanwhile Im facing baseball terminators every game that mash everything, I can’t understand it. I bought a monitor and to be honest my batting average is the same or even worse coming from my 55 inch Sony TV. All this combined with the rng in this game is headache inducing and I can’t for the life of me understand why Im playing so bad.

So is this a goodbye post or asking for moral support/tips on what to do?
My advice... Suck it up buttercup and don't let a bad streak get in your head. Speaking of "in your head" don't play Ranked tired or too many games in a row. Also, don't immediately play after a loss as you are likely to press due to the frustration from the previous game.
Btw... Some folks actually play better on a TV instead of a monitor if you can believe it.
There... Go get'em Tiger

I'm still having fun, but I feel ya. I'm definately getting better, but I'm not really seeing that translate into success. I'm amazed at how good some of these players are, I've played guys who literally never miss a ball, never swing at a ball no matter how close, it's bot like.
Overall there's a lot to enjoy here, the collection aspect and the building of you're team, working the market... take a few days off, shoot some foul mouthed 12 year olds in the face in warzone then come back fresh. Personally this game has rekindled my love of baseball. Playing night games at the polo grounds just makes me feel good.

If someone throws 98+ mph You basically have to guess and sit fastball and hope you are close to the location you are focused on. 102mph is a real headache and I honestly don't believe Walter Johnson threw 102mph from start to finish... I mean Rob Dibble could throw 102 or 103 for one inning maybe 2 innings but he had constant arm troubles. Nolan Ryan is really the only one who should throw 100+ as a starter, so this game gets it wrong in my opinion. Some people have a really good fast twitch reflex and you will never get a fastball past them but they will be susceptible to slow pitches so you can slow their bat down and dabble with the fastball later. Anyhow if someone senses you are sitting off speed you can expect a barage of fastballs and you will have to adjust and sit fastball. But its a constant guessing game. I know there are some people that can hit any pitch in any location at any speed, but those people are autistic freaks and you can't expect to be that good. Just try to play smart baseball, guess location and pitch type on the first two strikes then get defensive and fight anything close off till you get something you can handle. If there is a pitcher you can't solve and its upsetting you just move on to the next match and hope for someone more to your liking.

Yea just looking for some answers, I know I’m good enough, I’m very competitive and it kills me when I’m playing this bad. I know dudes aren’t that much better than me but I guess it’s just levels to this thing. Knowing I made World Series last year multiple times and not making It this year is what’s really annoying me. I’m hitting a paltry 263. I play against some guys where everyone in their lineup hits over 350. At least. God forbid I hit over .300 as a team. And someone help me get Larry walker Out please!!

I think the best estimates of WJ's speed based on measurements were around 98. There were guys who were likely faster, but guy's who have played baseball at a decent level can tell you some guys stuff just looks and sounds different. I played with a guy who would only clock 92-93 but you'd swear standing in the box it was coming faster. it had a late pop, like it teleported the last few inches. Another guy on our team hit 97-98 and it didn't look nearly as intimidating.

Ha..I remember your name maybe we've played before or I'm confusing you with someone else. In any case, taking a break wouldn't hurt, maybe it's not the answer you want to here but as someone whose also very competitive, I'd say it's best to load other games into your PS4 from time to time. Things happen in this game and it snowballs and it gets mental. It'll swing back in your favor eventually. Hang in there...or don't, either way it'll be ok lol.

Thanks lol, I’m an Xbox guy but I love the Show and baseball so I have a PlayStation just for that. I usually try to decompress playing COD but that gets sweaty Lol. I usually take breaks and get back on the show after a couple of hours. I’m starting to think this whole monitor stuff is overrated. I honestly don’t see a difference. My tv is fairly new, I bought it last year. I think getting a monitor definitely applies to those guys that have an old tv with bad input lag. I think some of the newer TVs are made for gaming in mind and have a dedicated game mode to reduce the input lag.

Yea I hear ya... a lot depends on the delivery as well, some guys hide the ball better or have a herky jerky motion and the ball can get on you faster before you pick it up. And speaking of picking up the baseball I can't believe SDS flashes program messages while you are in the batter box.. I mean hear comes a ball at 102 in the corner and on the side I am informed that I have now pitched 12/15 innings with mariners pitchers lol.. thanks for that update SDS I really appreciate that flashing in my periphery as the pitch is on the way.
