One thing 2k has that I wish MLB would do...
-
Don’t get me wrong, I believe mlb is by far the better product. But I wish certain players had certain abilities. Like in 2k Only certain players have acrobat or rim blocker abilities. I guess Quirks are like that, but not every player should make a jump throw across their body for an out like they are Derek Jeter (I’m looking at you Harmon Killebrew with the bronze defense). He should set his feet on a back hand. While I do like how certain level (silver, gold, diamond) have different animations, they should make quirks/abilities something in this game.
Chapman, Schmidt, arenado, Olson etc should have a vacuum quirk and players like Thomas shouldn’t be godly at first.
Players like mays griffey trout could have a boost for catching balls at the wall and robbing homers.
Just a late night thought, what do y’all think?

Was just thinking the other day how silly it is for a catcher to do the jump throw. Had the catcher pick up a passed ball that bounced off the wall behind him and do the spinning jump throw to try and get the runner advancing to second. That never happens

Exactly, it’s just unrealistic to me. Like someone whose acrobatic like baez I can see making that play. So give him an acrobat quirk so he can make those plays compared to say chipper at SS lol

It seems like the only quirks that work in this game is for pitching. Give fielding and hitters something

I think you make a very good point, there is so much they could do in that area alongside the attributes side of things. So much untapped potential that would give the game a whole different feel with so many possibilities.
Alongside that I would also love for them to start using the active quirks that are used for LS players for flashbacks and legends, like 2 strike hitter, red eye and breaking ball hitter.

Same. Has there ever been a reason given as to why active quirks aren’t a thing for legends/flashbacks?

I'm not sure, but my guess would be that by doing this they're giving LS cards some added value

Good idea but I don't think they should mess with defensive animations. We all know how the new and improved outfield animations worked out this year...

I've always said Quirks can be expanded on. a player like Maikel Franco isn't great at defense overall, but when it comes to charging and making the barehandad grab/throw, he's one of the best. It's the only defensive tool he really has and it would be neat to give him something that actually highlights it. Similarly, give a super utility player like Ben Zobrist a quirk that lessens his secondary defensive penalty, and multi position players like Craig Biggio or Stan Musial(players who actually had significant time at multiple positions) a similar but different quirk. Give extreme pull hitters a quirk that slightly buffs pulled balls, and give push hitters the same treatment. Make it so Thief actually gives better jumps on stolen base attempts.
