I didn’t check (on phone) but it sounds like you may be new to the forum? If anything the volume of posts on this forum over the past couple of years claiming balancing outcomes have the opposite effect of the forum creating false illusion. Rest assured, many people here feel your pain.
Re read your post. You are comparing apples to oranges when you say the worst MLB team will win 50 games. The worst MLB team is still made up of MLB players..for the most part.
The bit I disagreed with is that the game makes a mockery of the MLB. If the game is indeed balancing results it’s in fact mirroring the MLB by having the worst teams still winning a lot of games. It’s the 50/162 that prompt the RNG posts.
The online ranked modes should not attempt to mirror real-life season outcomes. Heck, I agree with you - the overall better user in an online match-up should eventually end up as the winner, unless they get lucky with some swings and guess some pitch locations with a reasonable timed swing.
Things that may prevent realistic outcomes happening:
- possible balancing logic or randomly determined hit or pitch outcomes (suspected by many)
- early quits (not enough time for a game or user’s record to balance out)
- 3-inning games (not enough time for a game to balance out)
- stacked teams (when there is no weak link, how do you force games to end?)
- influence of pitcher confidence variable (need to see the design documentation to determine what influence it has)

Like your dot points. Early quits probably cost players 5-10% in the loss column. But, OTOH, it may even out with the players on the positive side of the early quit gain 5-10%,
The stacked team dot-point is probably the reason the programmers have to inject "balance logic". I've thought about this a lot. There really isn't too many bells and whistles in this game. You, as the player, really only have input when you are swinging or pitching.
All the other stuff..base-running, errors, etc. are irrelevant because we know the AI dictates those outcomes anyway. Errors for sure. But, I believe successful steals are pretty random. Sure, your Ricky Henderson's are going to be more successful than The Panda, but by and large...the AI decides it. I've gotten 2 bump leads with Henderson many times and been thrown out by average defensive catchers. It's all based on what the game logic is dictating at the time.
So it's really down to batting and pitching. IMO, anyone that has played this game a few hours and has at least average eye-hand coordination can be an absolute batting beast. It's no big deal to see a little blip coming in (sort of like old pong games) and hit it perfectly. So, THERE HAS TO BE a governor/regulator in place to create a difference. That's where the code kicks in to prevent those never-ending games.
The code will often (every 4 or 5 pitches that I've experienced) animate my swing to be just a bit off of where I KNOW I swung. Just enough to justify a pop-up or foul or swing-thru.
Also, kicks in to give players that don't have very good eye-hand coordination that game-winning gopher ball right down the middle of the plate.
Which, imo, is just the software animating something that didn't happen. I know my controller input did not dictate I throw a fastball right down the middle.
The sadsack opponent, likely, couldn't swing properly even if I did throw a gopher ball. So, the code just generates the animation anyway. Gotta let the bad/new players win too. Otherwise they'll quit buying our game.
I know..I write a lot, but it's how I try to process and understand. I really want to like this game and hang with it, but I really hate the code (not my actual controller input) deciding outcomes.

The attraction of this game, any game as far as that goes, is the satisfaction of knowing you won/lost because you're better/worse.
Not because the software is working behind the scenes to create an animation that rewards some games...screws you other games.
IF you're worse and need to work on things you do that...spend your hours..get better. In real life you are rewarded with practice and time spent. But, not in this game and it's horribly frustrating.
That's not what competition is about.
I definitely dont like it or enjoy parity manipulation, DDA, RNG or whatever it is called... but I'm realistic and understand it works both ways. It's just funny to never see the post about RNG helping somebody win... and everyone of us recognizes those games.

Must have been having a rough day then. lol. If you don't think there isn't an issue with connections in this game, I don't know what to tell you.
I guess my hope is one day for SDS to pull their heads out and make this game fair and level. At some point I will give up.

He misses pitches in custom practice cuz he takes it with the pitch speeds all the way up smhhhh.. nice try tho

Funny you would mention seeing some of the "gurus", "elite" online players actually in action. I've watched a handful of "instructional" videos these elite players have put together. Anytime it has to do with hitting..it starts with adjusting your PCI to be just like their's (like that REALLY make a difference) and at some point they talk about their pre-swing ritual. That's really all I've taken out of any of these videos. There are no secrets..you're swinging a club at a moving object. What's secrets could there be?
But, anyway, about your video mention. These guys are always in practice mode and ain't hitting anything. I mean, they look like me in practice mode. And, I'm at best average.
You would expect these so-called Gods of the game to hit every pitch over the wall. I see more of them fouling off pitches in the middle of the zone than hitting anything hard. Pop-ups. Don't know if they feel somewhat awkward putting out videos to "help" the rest of us and they ain't demonstrating any sort of advanced ability.
Anyway, it just reminded me of something I've always meant to post about. None of these guys seem any better than most of you other guys that have played 500+ hours. They, for sure, can't articulate what makes them special if, in fact, they are.

Dude, I have an entire post about this.
It's called "There is Balance in the Game". And I describe in detail how the blatant "game-interference" handed me a game I shouldn't have won. Tasted worse than losing a game I should have won. Because when you're on the receiving end...you really know what you did...I should say "didn't do" to earn the win.
It exploits the "code randomizing animation" that, imo, has a line of code that says "goto screw-this-player" or, perhaps, "goto put-this-guy-on-your-shoulders-and-assure-he-wins" ...
You can write the pseudocode for that particular paragraph but I'm betting it's filled with a lot of "Throw fast-balls that are impossible to hit", "let one guy get on base to make it interesting..then double play" , "error time", or....that's all I can write tonight. It's beer time.

No one,REPEAT...no one wins when computer code says it ain't so. That's perhaps the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. Don't forget what powers the game...it's code. I guess if you could figure out a way to hack into the code and "goto" a different outcome..perhaps then you could "overcome the RNG". When you learn that trick let me know.
