Sheffield, defense doesn’t matter much at 3rd, just need a good arm
???? I’d love to play you in RS and rake liners down the 3rd base line the whole game. Think you might have a different opinion on 3rd base defense after that
I’m sure you could try to do that all day...ask cbrev the top 50 player about defense at 3rd lol...also Chipper isn’t any better than Sheffield with Chippers weak arm

I’ll take chippers average arm and defensive range over sheffs good arm and his inability to get to anything down the 3rd base line

The first bunt might work, you won’t get away with bunting after that. You do realize he is the best in the game at charging barehand fielding and throwing in the same motion. Just like in real life

Not sure what point your making with that post as you haven’t given any context about that particular post I made a month ago. We’re debating the merits of fielding at 3rd base and you’re the one bragging about how it’s not important and how you would break down Chipper at 3rd. I’m simply rebutting your argument. Do you have a problem with defending your position? I mean deflecting to another argument doesn’t make you very credible.

Yeah I was about to say, of all the knocks on Chippers defense, his animations going in on the ball are flawless. Ive never seen him miss a dribbler its just the hot shots to his left away from the glove.
Dude played bunts and choppers as well as anybody.

That’s why I play Correa at Short. With Chipper able to play the line so well and Correa defending the hole it pretty tough to get much through. Up the middle is still the weakest part of my infield defense so I pitch away from the maddening dribblers up the middle.

I had the nastiest defense ever before this last update with Ruth. Prestige brett at third, Rollins at short, Prestige Biggio at 2nd and Stan the man at first. Double diamond up the middle gets to everything and I had Weiters behind the plate to top it off.
After the update ive moved Biggio behind the plate again with Hornsby at 2nd. He's obviously not as good but he RAKES.

I’d use Brett more often but Chippers bat is too valuable to move out of my lineup. And the defensive improvement of the blood diamond just makes the decision that much easier. Don’t have the patience to prestige Brett right now.

I have right at 58,000 stubs about 8,000 stubs away from Chipper. Him being a switch hitter really intrigued me. Right now I have been switching between Gold Glove Evan Longoria and 95 Edwan Encarnacion (secondary position) Who are some sneaky good 3rd baseman’s or is Chipper the way to go?
Ryne Sandberg as a secondary I have him prestiged

I argued that Chipper was a better defender than Sheff at 3rd base. You pointed out that all you need is a strong arm and fielding wasn’t that important. And that you think Chipper has a weak arm for that position. My counter was that his average arm and ability to move at that position was more important than having a strong throwing arm and very limited range. That’s when I mentioned I’d like to play you just to hit liners down the line to prove that range and mobility are just as important as having a strong throwing arm, because in that scenario Chipper will win far more often than Sheff who is an atrocious fielding 3rd basemen. That’s when you began taking it personally. You pointed out rather bluntly that I wasn’t good enough to do that to you and that if I played Chipper you would just bunt the whole game and beat him. I pointed out that you might get away with it once but not again as Chipper is probably the best at charging those plays and making them when put in the right defensive alignment. I wasn’t asking who was better at the game, you’re the one who went down that path. I was simply saying that Chipper is the better fit at 3rd than Sheff because of what he could do defensively. And for the record Chipper is not given the credit he deserves for his defense ever in these games. He may never have won a gold glove based in part because Scott Rolen was playing that same position at the same time as Chipper and was an other worldly defender. And the year he should have won he was robbed by David Wright who made like twice as many errors as Chipper did that year. That’s beside the point. I’m just asking you to defend your position that Sheff is the better option at 3rd and that 3rd is not premium defensive position. Im not asking that we compare cup sizes (sarcasm). Please tell Brooks Robinson or Nolan Arenado that 3rd isn’t a premium defensive position. It’s not called the hot corner for no reason!!

Fair enough, let’s just let bygones be bygones. It’s not personal but arguing/ debating isn’t a bad thing either, its how humans communicate and learn. And this world would be a much better place if we could accept others opinions and not attack them with braggadocious claims when they don’t necessarily agree with your point of view.
