Haven't lost hope on this one some day. Lord knows he needs the $$$.
A 40-40 MVP Card of his would be awesome!

Beltran did a number on his legacy by being a part (ring leader) of the cheating Astros.
I wonder if this will keep him out of the Hall of Fame. I can see the writers taking out the lack of punishment by MLB on him. -

I posted this somewhere else, but the post got me thinking.
What cards would you like to see in the game but for outside of baseball reasons we know we will never see.
This is a serious question and a great conversation to have.
I will start with the biggest POS and a dude that should never be in the game but would have one heck of a card.
This is not an endorsement of the player or his beliefs, this is purely based on his on field exploits.1999 PS John Rocker
That guy was so clutch that postseason. I remember his epic ABs vs Mike Piazza. That NLCS was one of the best performances by a reliever I have ever seen in the playoffs.I looked up his #'s from that postseason and they were even better than what I remembered.
10 Games
12 IP
18K's
1-0 Record
3 Saves
0.00 ERAum no dude, rocker had a couple good years that's it- braves didn't even win '99 series against yanks, I'd rather have mark "the bird" fidirich (apologies if I spelled that wrong), Mitch Williams, heck id take thad bossily over rocker and bossily was a career pinch hitter- rocker is a douche- Hank Aaron walked away from his conversation rolling his eyes cause rocker is a complete ignorant person, rockers career died after '99 and it should remain dead.
I never said Rocker should get a Prime or SS card. But that Post season he was untouchable.
And I know he is a POS, I even mentioned it several times in my opening post. The purpose of this post was to discuss cards that will never be in the game because of off the field stuff.
On the field, especailly in the 99 post season Rocker was a beast. The Yanks beat the Braves, but it wasn't b/c Rocker didn't do his job.
2 Games
3 Inninings Pitched
4 K's
0 Runs allowed.you mean "off the field" stuff? there are many, many players who were "untouchable" in a playoff run that deserve to be in this game way way more than your boy. to be in this game is an honor rocker will never deserve even if he starts giving head to show he is truly a closet gay.
He isn't my "boy"
And you are obviously too unhinged to have a discussion."unhinged" lol, i lived during that time and know the context which you obviously dont, theres a reason rocker has been blackballed and there is nothing to discuss about rocker dude is the truest of c***ts in this world.
You are unhinged. Look at the whole basis of this thread... Its about players who are controversial and have off field issues that would never be in the game but were good players... And here you are flipping out arguing Rocker is too big a POS to be in the game... Yes that's the entire point the thread exists LMAO... Take a chill pill.

Like bonds/Ramirez he's probably too expensive at this point. My dream next year is too see Manny and Juan Gonzalez added.
I honestly think year 1 on the next gens is going to be huge. Especially with them bringing XBOX on board. I think we are going to get some huge names. The Big Unit and Pedro are just the start.

This is a great post and the replies have been just as enjoyable to read through. I feel like there is some gray area around the whole PED era. There are those that have the stigma attached to them and then there are those who have kinda flew under the radar. We have Giambi, Cano and feel like players like Palimero, Andy Pettite are some that can also fly under the radar in the future. And then those big names Clemens McGwire Sosa and Bonds that will never be able to disassociate their names from steroids. And then there's Arod that has been very active with MLB since PED and retirement that he's really trying to cast himself in a different light.
bonds never needed peds, he saw how it pumped others up who werent even close to his skill and he figured why not man, they aint getting caught/busted/spit on, they getting paid- i wouldve done the same had I bonds' talent been in me. bonds NEVER needed peds, he just showed everyone what the best will do with enhancements- bonds is the greatest player that ever lived. i didnt see ruth play, i saw bonds- bonds took the pirates to the pirates to the playoffs 3 years in a row way before peds. bonilla was there but he left before '92 season and lo and behold bonds got 'em there again. in '93 bonds went to the giants, they won 103 games and missed the playoffs- the giants werent good before bonds and did little but get bonds in the offseason, mlb restructured the playoff format because the giants won 103 games and didnt go to the playoffs because atlanta had 104 wins, the phillies had less and beat atlanta, giants shouldve beat dodgers in last game yada yada, barry bonds who is who you should/would/will always start a new baseball team with, if you have barry your chances of not losing are small. you kids love mike trout- trout hasnt/doesnt take his team to the playoffs, barry did- barry bonds is better than any player playing today. trout has numbers but tout doesnt inspire a team to win even with joe maddon this year. barry made you believe, trout doesnt, be quiet anyone who thinks trout is better than barry. barry was better than ruth and aaron(aaron is clearly the second best player behind bonds, ruth had gehrig and many others= bonds and aaron had themselves and inspired scrubs to win(aaron had eddie mathews, bonds had jeff kent other than that go to sports reference and try to wrap your head around the truth/numbers.

I was looking at his #'s.
With the enlightenment of the media regarding sabermetrics, I could have seen him as a candidate that would gain momentum until he finally hit 75%
Career WAR 70.1 (70.0 is considered by many as the minimum for consideration)
119 OPS+
Some big postseason moments.
He would have started in the 20-25% range and over the years added more and more votes. -
where's randy johnson whom if you look at the numbers and can understand them was a far superior strikeout pitcher than nolan ryan . nolan took 350+ innings to strike out 300 batters, randy did it in 200+ 4 years in a row, why is he not here and he was far, far away from controversy.

This is a list of controversial players who may not get cards. Randy Johnson like you said was not controversial. I really want a Randy Johnson card though.

i saw so many randy games, i was there for his one hitter against the cardinals jose jimenez who pitched a no hitter, mcgwire scored the winning run, randy was truly such a fun person to watch play- he gave you your money's worth and i only paid $1, its when the dbacks were in their infancy, he worked so hard behind the scenes to keep playing and always gave his best, randy johnson is the man yo.

Players should have the only vote???
That is laughable.
When players have the votes their buddies get into the HOF.
Look at Harold Baines. The only way he should be in the Hall is if he bought a ticket.
But he got in because his former owner and two of his teamates were on the veterans committee. The current system with the BBWAA writers voting is more than adequate. Their standards to be eligble to vote are high. You need to be a beat writer covering baseball for 10 consecutive years to be eligble.

Jose would look great on my All Cuban or All Marlins team, but he will not be in the game. His recklessness lead to his death and the death of 2 of his friends.
He could have been great, but sadly we will never know.

Thanks for bringing that up, as that's immediately who I thought of as well.
Plus my obligatory Ruth is the greatest ever post in response to the earlier discussion.
