A spinoff from the do you like CAPs thread. I personally am not a fan, but realize if I want to field the best team I probably should make one. So, I would love some tips and here are a few initial questions I have...

    • Is it too late in the game cycle to make one and boost them? Wouldn't my CAPS initial low rating be a weak spot on my Ranked Season team for a while?

    • What is the best archetype for positions like SS and C?

    • What equipment is necessary? If I am making a SS CAP, do I really need to have too tier catcher equipment?

    • All diamomd bats seem to have the same attribute boost, is this true?

    • Is there a way to get the online innings outside of Ranked Season?

Any other tips will be appreciated. Maybe it's time to get Jake Taylor or Roger Dorn some playing time!

It's not too late to make one. Low rating doesn't mean anything because the equipment is the boost. Best archetype for SS or C is Balanced, Speed or Fielding. DO NOT go for Power build since you'll have plenty of upgrades via Equipment. Moments/Collections get you to 82 gold, offline innings get you 85 diamond & online innings get you 89 diamond. Go to Inventory -> you can just get all gold equipment for now to save stubs then when you learn more go for diamond.
Equipment boosted stats wont show up on your squad you would have to get to the lineup screen in a Conquest or Extended Play to check it out.
Yes ranked seasons is the only way for online innings.

I have my cap as a closer/ high leverage situation. I have put him in for multiple innings and have only given up maybe 2 HR. You have the choose the right delivery.

I originally had my CAP at first base and he was a beast. Once they announced Babe I moved him to SS and sold Rollins. He’s a gold atm but should get him to diamond soon.

SS Balanced CAP is the best choice, it’s been that way for years now.

Lefty with the submarine delivery? No offense but if I take him deep I’m replaying every homer

I have a righty pitching cap just because I pitch better with a righty. There are a lot of deceptive deliveries in the game. Cueto's delivery with some 99+ smoke I think would be hard to hit. If you search through all the deliveries you can find a few really deceptive ones. I wish they would put Tiant back in the game.

That’s legit. I just can’t stand the guys that put their submarine 7’1 130 pound grasshopper on the mound who throws 100 but then has 60 mph change up. Almost impossible to square up, straight guessing

I haven't seen the 60mph change I think my reliever has a 99-101 heater mid 90's cutter and a mid 80's change on my 85. The 88 has a slightly lower heater, change and slider.

I'm curious, what do you guys think are the most deceptive deliveries?

    Snell, Cueto, Hershiser?

Diamond equipment is the biggest ripoff in this game. Sometimes the difference in attribute boosts between gold and diamond equipment is literally just +1 or +2, but the diamond equipment can be thousands of stubs more expensive.

BUT... there are a couple rituals that are worth the stubs, though. The Griffey in Yo Shoes is Worth like +7 to Speed and Stealing, and Legendary Call is +8 to Power and Contact. Either one of those is worth the cost imo.

True but it’s by design, the attributes eventually hit certain thresholds which makes them that much more valuable for some CAPs. I have the speed contact SS which obviously maxes out certain stats, but with the BEST equipment he also hits the 80 power threshold, which plays like a milli with +115 contact. Then he hits 90 fielding exactly for a diamond shield. Imagine that girl with a pony tail and glasses, but she runs track and plays middle linebacker.
