You wanna look for guys who have great pitch repertoires and are hard to pick up the delivery. Great repertoire doesn't mean guys who just throw gas and a slower offspeed pitch. Everybody can hit 100mph fastballs nowadays.
You want guys who have pitches that move, like sinkers, cutters, circle changes, big wonky curveballs, that kinda stuff. Especially the way sinkers move in this game, they are probably the toughest to hit with all the movement and break even if you throw it high.
So don't just look for flamethrowers with good H/9 and K/9. Look for pitchers that have a lot of moving pitches. You wanna get outs by generating weak contact, not by strikeouts. Striking out is a rarity nowadays anyway.
SS Feller? SS Byleven? SS Oswalt then?
I don't like Feller personally, he always gets lit up and I always hit him hard too. Blyleven was good early on but everybody has seen him by now. Oswalt is solid and matched the profile I described earlier, his sinker is good and his curveball is too. His release is hard to pick up on as well.
Other good options are guys like Kluber, King Flelix, Waino, pretty much every Hershiser card. Some of those cards are dirt cheap or even 100% free. They're not the sexiest cards in the game but they're highly effective if you use them correctly.
Waino from the SP Missions? What about Colon and Marichal?

Waino is from the partners moments I think. Marichal too, I had success with Marichal as well but he doesn't really have a good fastball so you can just sit back for his offspeed pitches. If you're playing a good player, that's gonna be a problem. Bartolo Colon is not worth it imo, fun to use because it's the legend Bartolo, but not worth it lol.

Neither, both aren't good options
I second this
3rd..My 5 are Verlander, Feller, Finest Sherzer, Finest Cole and Gibson..Tried many I've had before and new ones like Lefty Degrom is super hittable and I can pitch.Cy Young I had for 3 starts and realized good players pick up.on him easy.I feast on him as well.

What about Finest Buehler? And I bought Finest DeGrom; should I resell him?
Havent sold Young yet.
Trying to finalize my rotation.
So far it is. Finest Cole, Finest DeGrom, SS Mathewson, Finest Morton, and SS Burnett.
I'm buying SS Verlander soon.
I'd sell all 4 and wouldn't buy verlander
I wonder if op has Greinke yet
I wouldn't buy Grienke either
Then who would you buy
Kluber, Seaver, Gibson, Oswalt
in other words, your advice is a starter needs to have a sinker?

I disagree the guy I played against last night had 13 strikeouts...yes....I am that bad at hitting! LOL - I somehow still won. Yes....he was that bad at hitting too. Truth be told I agree 100% with you. Typically I might strike out 2-3 times a game but for some reason I just couldnt do anything right that game. Luckily, my pitching was on point. I had 11 strikeouts to his 13...it was just one really ugly game.

Yes, a straight fastball is rarely effective in this game unless you're playing a bad hitter
-
I would say a very effective Slider is a must as well. I get more off balance swings with that pitch than any other.

I disagree, people sit slider against same handed pitchers, cutters are much more effective

So many Ks seems like a rare occurrence. I usually only get that many Ks against a dude who sits heat exclusively and looks silly on every curveball I throw and doesn't know or just flat out refuses to adapt.

Cutters are great but if you can get them off balance throwing a couple cutters and hit them with a slider. I will say it is more effective against opposite hands.

My biggest issue lately is kid aggro and wife aggro. My daughter likes to do this thing where she stands literally 6 inches from me and just stares at me while I am trying to play. My anxiety goes through the roof...she will just talk and talk and talk and talk and I will get off my game and its all downhill. During that game she was in there almost the whole time then the wife came in and started talking and then the son followed... I had all 3 trying to talk to me at the same time, while Im trying to bat. I wanted to just give up for the night right there. I get to play only about an hour a night if Im lucky and its usually spend fighting aggro!

Sounds rough lol. I'd probably look for a time when I can play in peace if that ever occurs.

I've used every pitcher in the game, my rotation has settled on.
- SS Chris Sale
- Finest Gerrit Cole
- Tom Seaver
- SS Greinke
- Kerry Wood
I sometimes rotate in Kershaw, PS Strasburg, Guidry, Bumgarner, and Feller.
-
I haven’t been able to use Young yet. I sold deGrom after sucking with him. My best success has come with Oswalt, and Blyleven, and both are pretty cheap.
-
I dont know what I do wrong with Greinke. I wanted to like him so bad has great pitches but for some reason I get torched with him. I'm not the best pitcher mind you. I recently picked up bob gibson and he has been lights out for. weird cause I normally hit him well. I have Kershaw sale cole kluber and gibson. dont see that changing for the rest of mlb19

Grienke is great if you can get guys to chase that 69mph curveball, if not his fastball is straight as an arrow, doesn't have a deceptive delivery, despite having 95 and 92 break respectively on his slider and changeup they don't seem to break as much as you'd like.

Although it’s not technically a sinker, if used properly a two seam fastball can be used similarly if the break on it is good. For example Finest Cole.

Two-seamers are pretty garbage overall in this game though.

Huh. I’m surprised by the comments. DeGrom is my ace. A stud.
