Ps4 tournament looks like a nightmare
-
I'm glad I decided not to participate in it after seeing all the issues that have come up with it saved me the hassle

I joined the tournament and yes it was a nightmare. I won my first game 10 minutes after it started then waited 2 hours before realizing this is trash. What are the chances a top 50 player does not win anyway? I forfeited my second game after getting an alert 3 hours after my first round ended that it was about to start.

FWIW it was my first ps4 tournament i ever joined so i had excitement and first impression is never again.

Having played four games thus far in the tournament, I think it’s pretty evident the developers didn’t spend a whole lot of time with it. Played the first game and the score didn’t automatically report, but this was not an issue in the three other games I played. Wait time between games was far too long, usually anywhere between 1 and 3 hours long. The start time of 6:45 PM Eastern time in my opinion was too late for most players to get 6 full 3-inning games in before it gets too late at night. And this tournament was advertised exclusively as US and Canada in its scope, so in theory time zone differences shouldn’t make too big of a difference in terms of player availability.
I’d suggest that next time the developers want to have something like this to change some key aspects. First, allow players to enter a new game immediately after the conclusion of the previous one, with an opponent randomly selected from the pool of available online players. Also, if a player isn’t online during matchmaking, allow them to login at a different time within the given tournament window (perhaps 24 hours total) to finish their games once entering the online pool. Maybe try to change the start time to noon or early afternoon since it’s the weekend and more players may be online at a time that doesn’t overlap with meal times and nighttime.
I’d played a tournament in ‘19 last winter and encountered similar issues. I’d say this mode/feature has a great deal of potential, and it can appeal to a wider audience in the Show community by fixing the aforementioned and other issues currently occurring.

Allowing for a team draft and auto-reporting wins and losses are probably good additions. Previous iterations of tournaments in The Show seemed to me to depend too much on user discretion and potentially allowing for dishonest behavior in choosing teams above the tier requirements and game outcome reporting. But there are still some glaring issues in my mind at least.

Its ESLs system not SDS. They run 1000s of tournaments a day all self monitored, the show community is the problem, trained at freeze offs and dash boarding. Always toxic.

It was a disappointment to the highest degree. Whatever at least i know now which means i will never join another the show ps4 tournament.

It was free , so i like it

@VEGAS__T said in Ps4 tournament looks like a nightmare:
I won my first game 6-3. It never registered. Even sent visual proof of my win. Never got credit. Tourney was a joke and huge failure.
Had the same situation, won 3-1 in round 1 and my score was not properly reported. I contacted support during round 1 and they replied to me after round 1 that "too bad, it looks like you and your opponent were inactive and never played, so you both got disqualified". Disappointing to say the least
