Directional is the more realistic batting input

You make a statement with made up numbers. Zone hitters swing at 75% of pitches in the strike zone? Show me where you found those numbers lol.
-
Since when does the type of controls you use affect your eye and patience?
This is the worst argument for directional yet!

It's always funny how certain trigger words bring out the worst in people.
OP says directional is more realistic (it's true to some extent).
Some people see directional and instantly bash it saying directional is easier and blah blah.
Not what the OP said, some of y'all are hilarious and need to chill out. If you've convinced yourself you're losing to directional players you need to get into custom BP and practice.
Agreed. Hes merely pointing out that statistics-wise, directional allows for a more realistic representation of true to life stats. The sim aspect.
It's being misinterpreted as directional is better than zone, but that's not what he is saying.

Directional is great for the 8 and under age group

This. A lot of people on this forum with serious reading comprehension skills.

It does for me.
I don't use directional except for occasional situations but I have typically found that i swing less and have better eye for balls I WANT to hit with directional vs zone. I use zone though because I feel it gives me more control over to make hits. The OP has a valid perspective though for the player base who are not elite/above average hitters.

Why does everyone attack anyone with a different view or competitive game plan? To each his own! If it works for him, great... if it doesn’t for you, great as well! The point is to have fun and be as competitive as you can be with what works for YOU! These holier than thou players whom declare what is easy and what should or should not be in the game is exhausting. Play your game and let others play theirs... and for gods sake SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY!
OP was simply making his case for directional hitting... I don’t agree, however it’s his game and his choice! -
Anyone else use zone plus analog stride besides me? I like the feel of kind of actually swing a bat and timing my own stride.

I think this method by far is the hardest, but there is no advantage to controlling your stride over just pushing a button. It's why no one uses it.

I feel you on that just my preference to do so.

It would be even more realistic if you had your pci in sitting in the top part of the zone instead of holding the stick towards the foul poul. Having the PCI act as the barrel of the bat that you have to push out, pull in high n tight is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more realistic.

Just...no.
What? No counter argument? Just a caveman answer of no?
As you get older you realize certain things arent worth arguing over...the sky is green...rain is actually aliens tears....directional is the more realistic batting input etc...

@CalisGW said in Directional is the more realistic batting input:
Think on it. Average swing rate is around 46% ( real baseball) last few years. Now using zone, how often are you swinging at pitches ? How many pitches in the strike zone are you swinging at? I would guess zone hitters swing at around 75% or higher of strike pitches.
I think that’s why people get mad at directional batters. Directional wait for THEIR PITCH to capitalize. They lay off pitches meant to induce poor results and they wait for the mistake pitch ( either by user input or the rng )
Food for though
Incorrect.
Just some "Food for though".

OK but you can't argue when I say the earth is flat.

Directional should be tweaked and then made the only form of hitting.

It provides a more nuanced approach to hitting and is just more fun. There’s a reason it was the only way to hit in the best baseball game of all time.

As older heads we grew up on using something similar to directional hitting. Can't fault anyone for using it. Its in the game
