Just ordered a BenQ because of this thread. Anything I need to do when I get it besides plug it in & pray I can see the ball better?
Set it to FPS, and that’s about it. All the other settings are really user based.
What is FPS?
First person shooter

Finally purchased a BenQ 24 inch. Saw talks on here awhile back about the difference it makes to play on a monitor, and was wondering what experiences you guys have had. What makes it better than playing on my 65 inch TV? Prolly a little late to ask haha but needed a monitor for work anyways!
Thanks
BenQ is the best!
Does it not have sound capabilities? I’ve been fooling with it for the last hour or so and can’t seem to figure out the volume!
They don’t have built in speakers, you can use external or headphones. You don’t want a monitor with speakers anyway, they always stink.
Yep, I got an Asus and the sound (without headphones) is really bad. I was kind of shocked how bad. But they probably don’t put much time into that because most people use headphones.
I was thinking about putting up a thread with my early thoughts on getting a monitor and asking others if they have any tips/tricks. Overall, I like it a lot. Again the natural speaker sound isn’t great and I kind of miss sitting back on my couch.
That’s somewhat the point of monitors. They process the images really fast at the fraction of the cost of a TV because they don’t do everything a TV does like Bluetooth, Netflix and even sound. TVs that are as fast usually cost a lot and are actually more powerful than a PS4 can handle so you overpay.
If you miss your couch there are some TVs that are perfectly designed for PS4s and don’t cost even close to what top end TVs do. I recently bought a SamsungTU8000 that is basically a low end Samsung yet faster than a lot of monitors as far as input lag and response time.

I didn’t see a FPS setting on my BenQ, so I put it on game mode, and it works great for me so far. I went from a 48 in tv to the 24 in monitor. I’m having fun practicing In the event. Hopefully, it continues, but I’m so glad I bought the monitor.

This was me last year, I would always be so close to WS before last year but never made it. Made the change to monitor and kontrol freaks, now I am not gonna say it made me better or not but I made WS multiple times last year, I started playing the show about a week ago so let’s see it I make it this year.
Also I know the monitor 100% helped me get better with zone hitting. I used to get really frustrated with the big strike zone on my 55 inch tv, id move the wedge too much, with the monitor I was able to see the pitch and pace PCI much better

If you play on a Benq RL2455 or RL2755, I'd recommend using the standard picture mode over FPS.

I have a buddy who just got a monitor, and says he is 12-2 on ranked since getting it.

Why is this my man? I’ve heard FPS before for best input.

I have the 24, and I don’t even see that option on my settings.

You should. It’s under picture mode. There’s like 10 to 15 different options.

It's because there is no difference in response times, but the color saturation makes it easier to see the ball. FPS mode is very oversaturated with a lot of bright backlight due to the Black Equalizer, which is great for first person shooters and spotting people in darker areas, but in MLB The Show it doesn't really do much for you. One might actually make the argument that it's harder to pick up the ball on FPS mode.
At the end of the day, it's all opinions though. If it works for you, stick with it. There is no difference in response time / input lag so it's purely visual and what you're comfortable with.

Are you sure you have that specific model? The Benq Zowie RL series? If so, it should be there.

Yeah I know what you mean. I just always turned the black equalizer all the way down. So all modes are the same input wise? I wasn’t sure so I just used FPS since it seemed right. I was under the assumption that if you increased color vibrancy or etc. it would create some lag or delay. Probably very little but still I stayed away from changing something like that. Always good to hear others input, so thanks man

There are people on YouTube for example who have suggested these things with no scientific evidence whatsoever to prove their claims. Rtings, DisplayLag and various other respected hardware reviewers have performed tests with a Leo Bodnar input lag measuring device and they all concluded that for these models it does not change a thing when it comes to input lag.

I was just a hair over .500 last year, sub .500 this year. Monitor will be here Monday. LOL
