@WDK19 This could be a question for your podcast
Obviously, some hitters hit better against lefties than righties, and vice versa. In the MLB, you know who is pitching. What if you chose your pitcher, and then the other team saw it. If it is a leftie, you would know who to put in your lineup. Same for righties. The one downside would be that if you see a good pitcher facing you, you back out. Maybe it just says if it is a righty or a leftie? This would make life way easier for me. i don't want to guess what side I will be facing. Thoughts? -
I thought of this today but this just makes offensive games and this also devalues switch hitters
-
This used to be a thing.
They removed it because, like you said, people would just stack their lineup with one side and back out until they got a pitcher with the opposite handedness.
-
You could make use of so many more cards if you could set a vs lhp and vs rhp lineup. The obvious problem this year would be everyone would start a lhp then put Kluber in in the 2nd inning.
-
These are all true. I just thought it would help some.

I've been preaching this for years. Introduce multiple lineups. Form a lineup vs LHP and a lineup vs RHP. Pre game menus shows both lineups you can adjust, this way the pitcher remains anonymous and you have complete roster control.
Obviously the counter to this is an opener, but still. Would love to see it

I've thought this for the past couple years. Let us have the 25-man roster we have now, but be able to set multiple batting orders in it dependent on LHP/RHP. Then you go through the same pregame procedure and it loads the game. If you back out at that point, you get the L, so no issues disconnecting when you see the pitcher handedness.
Having the multiple batting orders for the same 25-man roster (which you don't get to pick at the lineup screen, it would load your current lineup as it does now) means you could platoon some players, but you wouldn't be able to put forth and entire LH or RH hitting lineup. It would be just as it is IRL. You have your 25-man roster and set your batting order based on pitcher handedness. But you wouldn't be able to see what it is until the game loads. If you quit, you get the L.

We will be sure to discuss this in a future episode.

How about:
-You have 2 preset lineups.
-You have to have at least 3 Lefties in you vsLHP lineup and 3 Righties in your vsRHP lineup.
-When the game loads in you see your lineup and what pitcher you're facing. This way you can't back out and it still allows for more realistic lineups that are still conducive to hitting against a matchup. We are all using some of the best players to play the game. These aren't platoon players.
-
Just be able to switch bench and starters before game starts. Once the game starts, you still have the bench to sub in. Better than having all left/right against same handed pitchers. Just like MLB. Know the pitcher and set the lineup with the guys on your roster. No second lineup. Just a chance to rearrange the bench and starters.

Brilliant! Psych

Thoughts?I feel like a cool solution to this would be to allow one platoon spot that switches based on handedness. That would allow the integrity of lineups to remain constant, but you could platoon say Arenado and Gorman at 3rd if you wanted to.
