What is a breaking pitch?

Obviously. So do sinkers and cutters but they still aren’t breaking pitches. Forkballs and splitters are also considered fastballs. ( don’t ask me, I didn’t make the rules lol)
Splitter is a short form of split finger fastball, forkball is a fastball cause it's the same grip as a splitter but a splitterthe ball only touches the fingers, the forkball the ball also rests against the palm, forkball came first,splitter is an evolution of it
Interesting. I didn't know that. I never learned a forkball grip. I guess since it moves significantly slower than the fastball I figured it would be classified as offspeed. But a circle change rests on the palm too, and rolls off the last three fingers. At least my grip did.

Yeah the big difference is that you pronate your wrist on a change up and a forkball is thrown like a fastball with the grip doing all the work. A forkball is pretty much jamming the ball between your index and middle finger like a very exaggerated splitter.

Fastballs: 4seam, 2seam, cutter,sinker, running, splitter,and forkball
Breaking: slider,slurve, curve ball,sweeping curve, 12-6 curve, and screwball
Offspeed: any of the changeups
I've always classified anything that isn't a fastball as an offspeed pitch, which includes breaking balls
