Every month... Someone comes on here and suggests they do a Fernandez card.. never.. going. to happen.
Also, he's not even close to the Marlins goat. Not even top 25. He decided to end his and 2 of his friends lives before he could be called that..
So out of curiosity .. what are your thoughts on the Roy Halladay situation?
Halladay was by himself over water.
Jose was a kid, who got in a fight with his girl and decided to do a bunch a coke and drank, and speed race his boat killing 2 other people..
So 2 grown men can’t make the decision to not get on that boat? Just because Fernandez was driving the boat that killed them all, he’s full to blame for something they all were partaking in that night? Also, that’s complete speculation with the whole “girlfriend fight” being a reason to “do a bunch of coke” & “speed race” .. you speak on a dead man’s situation so easily, kinda odd. It’s as if you were there that night or have inside info.
But hey, hope you’ve been a saint your whole life my man. Such a shame a young rising star made a bad decision that ultimately took his life. So weird how he’s the only person in sports history to have that happen. What a truly HORRIBLE human.

Know the details. He would be in jail if he survived for 2 counts of manslaughter. Text messages tell a story of his fight with his gf. These are all facts.. facts we learned well after celebrating him..
Lol may I ask .. do you know anything at all about the sun-sentinel..? Or anything about the writers of the sun-sentinel? Ya know, since we’re talking about “facts” here.

Facts... If you read it, you'd realize it's not exactly a puff piece. It's actual toxicology and autopsy reports. These are the known facts
Those provide the basic “facts” already established, followed by “could have beens”. “Facts” are 2 grown men (who were also intoxicated, one of which also on coke) by their own choice, got on a boat with their friend, who they knew was also intoxicated. They knew Fernendez was operating the boat while impaired. A devastating crash took place while the boat was being driven by Fernandez, & that ultimately cost all of them their lives.
Did Fernandez murder his friends? No. You talk about it though like it was homicide. Involuntary manslaughter if anything. Would he have potentially been charged? Definitely possible.
Not trying to undermine what took place or say the decisions being made before getting on the boat were ok. To say he “murdered” those 2 people, is a stretch. Again, impaired or not, those 2 men used their judgement to get on that boat that night. There were no intentions of killing anybody out there. Just extremely stupid decisions leading to their demise.
If I get behind the wheel of my car grossly impaired and take two of my friends with me in the back seat I am responsible for their deaths. This is why every state has a version of DUI with Death. Fernandez choose to get behind the wheel while intoxicated. He killed those men, whether or not they should have gotten into the boat is irrelevant.

Halladay didn't murder anyone. There's no comparison.
Wasn’t a comparison. Simply asked for the guys thoughts on Halladay’s death since these both had drug-related situations. But ... Yeah just got himself killed due to flying a plane while on amphetamines & opioids. Luckily none of his friends wanted to go for a ride that day I guess?...

It’s not irrelevant. You’re trying to make it that way to provide some backbone to your point. Those men knew what bad could come from getting on that boat & they chose to do-so.

They didn't choose to drive where they shouldn't be going twice the speed allowed.. he did. I just don't see how you defend this.

Ya know, everybody will hate me for saying this but I think he should have a card in the game. Every time we bring this topic up, immediately it's brought up that he's an awful person. I just want to celebrate the player, which he was a phenomenal one. We don't have to agree with everything the man did in his life to enjoy one of those best young pitchers of the last 30 years. Unfortunately, he was young, rich, and had a temper. Anyone that knew him, speaks to how good of a person he was and could be.
The man made the ultimate mistake but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to celebrate our love for him as a player.
Just my opinion on this.

Line for Jose aside here's my take on it.
This is a baseball game. Jose was one of the best to do what he was doing at the time, and when you look at the team surrounding that kid, he had Stanton in his prime, Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto, Bour, Dee Gordon. That team was STACKED. I guarentee had he not died so young in his career Miami would have been a yearly playoff contender. Maybe not right away since most of the guys I mentioned were still developing, but they would have made it.
Give the kid a flashback. Make it his LS card from 16, and leave it at that. And don't forget to do a line for Jose.

All "ultimate mistake" aside, and it was an unforgivable one..
He was an absolutely electric talent. Fire on the mound with an absolutely devestating slurvey slider..
But let's settle down there too..
He made 76 career starts.. that's it...
Was injured 2 of the 4 years he pitched, which he only made 8 and 11 starts in those seasons...Had he not made that unforgivable mistake, would he have been one of the best young pitchers of the last 30 years? I have no doubt... But he never got that chance when he essentially pitched a bit more than 2 seasons

Alright, good point... good point.
I should've said one of the most talented pitchers -- at such a young age -- of the last 30 years. I feel like that more aptly labels what I was trying to get across.
