Situational Defense

Always find myself ranting about this rather than dropped fly balls and the other usuals.

So events game bottom 3 I’m on defense, bases loaded 1 out, I move the corners in. GG Victorino hits a smoke to chipper and I preload to throw home for the dp. INSTEAD chipper fields the ball and runs to the force play at 3rd while the throw direction is pointed at home plate. Gets the force, throws home but the run scored and I lose.

I know it’s a video game and not everything can be executed perfectly, but I’m tired of real life situational baseball not being executed in this game. I made the right call for my defense and the computer said no f you. I’m fully aware we’re not gonna see any kind of animation adjustment this year but just bothers me that situations like this others IRL baseball can’t be executed.

They can’t get the HOME RUN banner off the screen. Contextual fielding commands are way beyond their scope it seems.

Do you have Fielding and Throwing set for Manual with no assist?

I’ve got no idea. Ball was hit so hard and I reacted quickly to press to throw home and it just forced chipper to step on third. Took him out of the throwing motion

If fielding is set to Auto assist, that might be why the cpu was going for the force out, I think my fielding is auto assist, I use buttons to throw no meter, I had seen my 3rd baseman go for a force out and I was trying to throw to second of a double play, I eventually threw to second as he was running to get the force out. Just one of those preset things in the game I guess.
