Moments and Showdown

I have a been able to complete the showdowns and the player moments however, it is a struggle with my level of skill. The hit timing is flawed, on a recent stage 2 showdown I made 10 consecutive outs all hard contact good/okay, good/good, and perfect/perfect. I do not enjoy the stress of the showdown, the mode has been rewarding though.

I will preface by saying that sports video gaming has been a part of my life since the introduction of the original Nintendo. Loved Tecmo football along with the original baseball etc. I understand that this is a Sony forum. I’m 100% a supporter of Sony and the PS4. Anyway,I’m a offline player and by the all feedback I’m not all interested in online gaming. Tons of drama. I believe there’s a untapped segment of offline “The Show”. Either way,I’m thankful of the The Show’s content. A good distraction of life during these sketchy times. I can only devote two plus hours a night to jamming it out. I’m the dreaded “packs buyer” for my DD team.

While I have been able to complete showdown before, I find the struggle not worth the reward. Due to how many attempts and the length of time it takes me to be successful, MTO is more rewarding in both affinity points and enjoyment.
I’ve had the same experience with the hit results. I understand that perfect/perfect etc. does not mean it should be a hit (the ball can absolutely end up right where the defender is positioned) but it seems too many good/good, good/okay swings don’t result in hits. For me, the frustrations outweigh the rewards and make the mode not worthwhile.

@ilvmyjeep I agree with you I do the MTO instead of the Stage 1 show downs. Stage 2 seems a little easier for me thankfully. MTO just takes a long time and i hate it that the computer changes your lineup and rotation after acquiring a new player... if it was a slightly shorter and max three inning moments would be great.

Agreed. The stage 2 showdowns have definitely been an improvement. For teams that I’ve reached stage 2 of the affinity points, showdowns are more rewarding than MTO.
Showdowns do offer more variety than MTO too, which makes them easier to play repetitively . There’s only so many times you can complete MTO before the monotony gets to you.

I hate Showdown, fact is I am not consistently good at hitting. But sometimes the results are not consistent either. And dont get me started on diving catches and the CPU painting the corners. The divisions I have the most success with are the ones that have more pitching missions than hitting. The other day I made it to final boss of AL east, but failed ever hitting mission other than the bosses.
Fact is not everyone is a great hitter, I can win on HOF, but get into these moments and its line out, fly out, ground out. Even on Veteran.
But MTO and innings are way too long of a grind

You forgot the occasional single, immediately followed by a double play.

@nflman2033 You speak the truth I was doing the Hernandez and Dawson moments, Perfect/Perfect out. Good/Square up out. I could not hit the ball any better. In showdown and moments you should be rewarded for a perfect/perfect with a guaranteed hit, simulation or not...I don't get them that often.

More than occasionally for me.
Just had a HR robbed in a boss mission.
And a new one. I am beating the Dodgers 2-1 take over win the game. I have the perk for weak contact on 1st pitch. Well right out the box I am giving up hits. So down 3-2 but I actually am hitting right now and I get it back, up 4-3. In the bag right, nope again CPU plays all juiced up. They bring in Kike and 1st pitch HR. The one sure way to fail. It wasnt a meat pitch either and it was against my perk. WTF?
