Will I get traded?
-
I signed a 3 year deal that covers all of my arbitration. I'm going into my last year of the contract and I'm not resigning. The team is bad finishing in the bottom of the division the last two seasons. Will they trade me for assets?

If you are in your final year before free agency, and the last year of your contract then it is possible. If your team is not a contender then sometime in June your agent should call to see if you are open to being traded to a contender. It is not a guarantee, but I think it is more likely than when you ask for a trade normally.

Just be prepared to go to another bad team. I was once traded from a tanking Red Sox team in to the Marlins but worst case scenario you leave in free agency. Best of luck.

Yeah that's just dumb if I get traded to a bad team. I'm having a career year right now. Real life they would be bugging me for a extension in the offseason. But I have my doubts that's going to happen.
Well I hope my agent asks me about going to a contender. I'd be down to be a 2 month rental.

In 2019, my agent wanted to know if I would entertain a trade to a contender. I said "yes". I ended up on the Marlins... who were not... contending. So, I spent two months with them, signed with a contender when I hit the free agent market.

Man I don't want to get traded to the Marlins for 2 months!!!! Yuke!!!
