I think we can all agree that like many other game companies who had releases this year, especially in the sports genre, that SDS has given up on this year and is focusing all its efforts into next year's game on next gen consoles. I for one am excited to see what they can do with the much more powerful hardware the next gen consoles will provide, but I am disappointed to see them just mail it in when it comes to this year. Gameplay has not been good, '19 played way better, yes there were line outs but what do you expect when every outfield has 3 HOFer's with 85+ speed?.

Can't prove someone wrong if everything is opinion based.

It’s 2020 and if I get a perfect Release pitching it goes down the middle lmaooooo

I don't think they mailed it in. I believe the hitting and pitching are exactly where they want it, and I believe the fielding isn't fixable without recoding the whole thing. The way they tie routes and animations together is a janky mess.
-
You nailed it. MLB The Show 19 was a much better game especially in the online arena, which is overrun with glitches and cheaters.

They added features to fielding this year didn't they? the first step reaction etc., I honestly think the consoles cant handle all those animations at once and it just makes for a "janky mess" as you would put it lol. As for pitching and hitting, if this how they want it to be than I am out, I said it at launch, If I want to throw BP I'll volunteer my time with a little league team. I am just really disappointed with this year's game, but I fully expect a big rebound next year with the next gen consoles.

It's still fun playing the game this year, minus a few controller spikes. I'll say this, it has so much potential to be the best thing since sliced bread, it's just clearly an unfinished product right now.
But, I'm going to try and stay optimistic, at least for a little while longer.
I mean, yeah I’m playing it, but how can it be an unfinished product? We’re two months into an eight month game, or 25% done with this year’s iteration. When would it get finished?
The game should not be released every year. with all the time and grinding and everything else put into this game. They stopped working on the current game 1/3 into the life cycle of it and start working on next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they are already working on MLB The show 21. This game should be released every two or three years with constant updates and content updates. And yes I know they are a company about money so they could make it mandatory to update next year for a price but keep the same game so they can keep working on the patches. instead of starting over and having the first two months be nothing but an experiment with sliders and whatever else they mess with.

But what if we don’t? What if it’s the same thing we fall for every year? Let’s see if this sounds familiar to anyone;
MLB The Show ‘21!
- Next gen tech, new engine, super realistic animations and ball physics!
- Hitting definitely rewarded, squared up is a home run with power hitters 88% of the time!
- Sexy new legends! Derek Jeter! Daryl Strawberry! David Justice! Randy Johnson etc!
- Preorder Bonuses, Betas And Early Access!
Then we buy it, game launches, everyone says this is great, best version ever! Then two patches in “SDS ruined hitting!” “Fielding is broken!” “Catchers don’t throw!” “Lag is ruining my experience!”
Why would ‘21 be any different to the last 5 years? -

The first step reaction was there last year. Its the reason people thought fielding was garbage until everyone had diamond defenders everywhere.
The new thing this year is when your player gets near the ball it locks into a predetermined route to the ball, its why you see fielders warping around and generally moving like they're on crack. Here's an example, I was using Kevin Kiermier in center and someone hit a flyball to the track. Now, he's one of the best CF in the game and fast, so I decided I was going to attempt to get to the ball. Well, I did, but the game decided that the best play would be to play it off the wall, so even though I was there in plenty of time to make the catch, he instead jumped out to play the carem, and costing me runs.
This scripting I believe is the problem and I don't think they can fix it, I think they would have to recode the entire fielding system, which isn't going to happen. Instead we're going to get duct tape and chicken wire to minimize it the rest of the year.

20 is better than 19 prove me wrong:
- Perfect/perfect
- Way less lineouts
- Player programs are great more offline content
- Yearly cards and a slower progression of overalls, less SS cards
- New legends are great
- Event reward system is great, really good rewards and incentives to play them for a while
- Frequent headliner updates
- PROSPECTS
- Expanded TA with better rewards
- Fielding matters more (I get it that it's had a lot of bugs but seems better recently)
- Contact and not vision determines PCI size
- THERE ARE SO MANY PHILLIES CARDS THIS YEAR (yes I know that's only important to some people)
Yeah there have been a lot of bugs but they've also been super responsive to fixing them, they're straight up soliciting feedback on the forums this year.
My only serious gripe with the gameplay is the pitching, and it's a big one that desperately needs attention, but overall I think 20 is a big step over 19.
Let the hate responses begin.
You basically just said a D+ is better then an F

Bro, gimme that chicken wire and duct tape. Put some old newspaper over the cracks. But please, just do something even if it’s a crappy band aid.
