Stage 1 Showdown Changes

I say this as someone who has quite a few TAs maxed out and finished both Stage 1 and 2 Showdowns quite a few times:
Stage 1 Showdowns need to be altered.
It's just goofy that the 2nd Boss in Stage 1 is far harder than anything in Stage 2. I have no problem grinding Showdowns like I've done for Stage 2 to get the cards I'm aiming for, but it seems so dumb that to get through Stage 1 TA we (theoretically) have to do a harder Showdown 3x vs doing an easier one 2x for Stage 2 TA.
Combine that with the fact that MTO isn't worth the time anymore and the FOTF cards being obsolete within the next month of the game, and there's just so little motivation left to go back and complete other teams' programs.
I think they need to adjust the difficulties on Stage 1, change the stat achievements to be more like Stage 2 where you often don't have to play whole games, and just make it a more feasible way to build a foundation for Affinity programs moving forward. I'd really rather grind than do countless exchanges, it's just not worth it at the moment.

100% AGREE!!! Hitting is next to IMPOSSIBLE!
-
While I agree, I think the next step in tas will be upper diamond legend face of the franchise cards, before finishing it off with the best cards from each team. That's what motivates me to get these done.
-
I've struggled so so much on showdowns, but was never an advocate for change.
However, after failing on Hendriks 4 times in a row trying to do AL West again ... yeah, I'd be happy to see some changes. Still think they should be very hard, but perhaps not this hard.
Then again, if I really look deep into my heart after each failure ... the blame lies solely on little ol' me. -
Gosh another person who wants the mode dumbed down for them. How about no? Embrace the challenge. Try, fail, try again, fail again, try harder, beat it, get better as a result, beat it consistently, become a better player. That's how it works.

I dunno, I know you’ve beaten about a trillion showdowns, but I find the mode gets repetitive really fast. Stage two is better to me personally, because not only is it easier to complete (so less time spent in the repetitive mode) there’s more variety in the moments they contain. Stage one seems to be more boring, as it’s the same moments in a different order most of the time and it contains a lot more nonsense than stage two, which is pretty straightforward, to me at least.
The problem with changing them now is that you have all the people, like yourself, who did the grinding as they are currently. While we don’t know what stage three and four showdowns will look like, it seems a little backwards that there’s a fairly good chance that you’ll play the harder moments and showdowns to pass the early stages and get the weaker cards in the affinities, yet it will get easier as you get deeper into the TA program and unlock better cards.

Well I agree that they're boring and somewhat of a grind, but that was not OP's argument and it was neither his request to add variety. He wanted them to be easier.

They can make the 2nd boss 15 outs like in stage two instead of 10 outs.

Yeah, but they couldn’t get any easier than stage two. It’s just strange how you have to beat the harder showdowns for stage one then they get easier and who knows what is yet to come. If stage three is harder, it’s just going to add to the pile of inconsistency that is MLB the Show. If you pick the game up on sale after the all star break you’d be extremely confused at the non linear difficulty progression.

I’ve completed a ton of Stage 1 showdowns as well, but I agree that some changes would make sense.
I don’t see anything wrong with them making Stage 1 showdowns consistent with stage 2 in terms of difficulty.

This guy talking about embracing challenges but quickly blocks anyone who CHALLENGES his comments.

Not even close, I only block disrespectful people and people who argue for the sake of arguing. I also unblock after a few days because I believe in second chances, as you can tell.

I've only done the NL Central but I've had to skip the second boss. It's just too risky.

Yup, I almost always skip 2nd boss, my winning % of final boss 7, 8, or 9 to 15 is nearly the same as my winning % vs that 2nd boss. Those 8 to 10 extra outs are worth way more than those 6 or 7 runs.

Not disagreeing with you at all.
My only issue, Showdowns are an "All or Nothing" mode.....you either finish it and get 5 vouchers or you fail and get nothing (I know you get some XP and stubs depending on how far you got).
You should get some vouchers spread out over the entire Showdown...it would go a long way towards appeasing many people and make them more worthwhile to attempt.

Well, if you keep seeing lots of people express the same sentiment (including in this very thread), maybe you should reflect and try and see it from their perspective rather than convincing yourself that everyone except you is a big dumb idiot.

I never used those words and never will. I simply believe in the process of improvement, what's wrong with that?

Well put. The inconsistency of the game really opens it up for a lot of criticism. It’s like umpires. If an ump has a really tight zone but is consistent, most people will not have a problem with him.
Conversely, when the umpire never calls the same thing twice, generally people will be all over him, and rightfully so.
