Not trying to brag but I'm currently number 1 right now in MLB 19 the show and I'm having a blast on my 12 game win streak in mlb 19 and man hitting feels so much better. I figured out that hitting in 20 isn't the problem. Its the timing windows. The windows are broken so your timing against different speeds, different windups, and connection, are too random to have consistent success on offense unless you are elite and know how to combat it (which not many of us are). I've beaten 7 Kershaws and scored 5 plus in all games against decent players still playing 19 where as in 20 the timing feels completely off. It feels like your relearning how to hit. I believe sds ran out of time to tune some things because of the pandemic so I'll give them a pass. Any thoughts

Yea it’s definitely hit window timing. Can see it online easily. When you’re late to very late on every fastball for 3 innings like you can’t even see the ball then you square one up finally and get very early foul ball it’s quite obvious.

Hitting is a problem, good okay on balls right down the middle perfectly squared up proves this

I've noticed that too. The inside, middle, or high fastballs i squared up against tough pitchers on hof or all star late in the game that go foul usually messes me up and causes me to chases a pitchers pitch which is usually offspeed. Thats a huge difference in wins and loses. You won't always get those pitches back either especially if your facing people who can really pitch.

True but its not the main problem. You can easily square up more good okays or perfect perfects if the timing windows weren't broken. Think about it. If your timing is down, you'll square up the ball more. Therefore you'll put more pressure on your opponent which can give you a higher chance to get a perfect perfect. Thats why some players feel like user input isn't registering.

I agree and even said something similar lately. I went back and played 16-17 for a few games and did exceptionally good compared to this game.

It’s all about the timing windows, so many times I have a ball in the center of the circle, square up for a pop fly or grounder. So much variation with connection lag makes it quite a challenge to be consistently succesful

Exactly. I literally tested this theory out yesterday on 19 when i was on my win streak. Doing the same hitting routine i usually do in game against different 99 pitchers and whether I scored, or lineout, i can feel my timing and out play the lineouts cause I'm able to square up the ball more. It made me less upset at mlb 20 and facing kluber cause it clicked in my head. My last game i put up 16 at minute maid park against a 99 Kershaw. Well actually i scored 10 against Kershaw before he pulled him but the guy had 6 runs so it wasn't a mercy rule.

It's been timing windows all year IMO, so I agree. How many times have you had a "perfect/perfect" that ends up going foul, then they change the contact results?

Hopefully they fix it, but I'm not holding my breath.

It depends if they can fix it cause of the pandemic. If they do we can enjoy having better hitting success for the rest of the year. Honestly I'll take SDS over EA or any sports gaming developing company because of how much effort thats already put into the game. Sometimes you can overperfect things. Sometimes we can be too impatient too and want things fast

I agree with this. It seems the timing windows are way different for each individual pitcher. For whatever reason I’m getting blown by on Kluber’s 95mph fastball and sinker and at the same time I have good, sometimes, early, timing on Kopech/Graterol 100mph+ fastballs. Doesn’t make sense.

For me, at least, the problem with Kluber is that his delivery and arm speed is just so unrealistically slow, looks like he should struggle throwing the ball 60 MPH's and then boom, that sinker or fastball clocked at 95 MPH might as well be 200 MPH

Except it was fine before patch 1.04. So they jacked the windows on purpose.

Maybe or maybe not. Could be a marketing strategy or a test to get players to get better through the struggle for next years game. Or could be something that haven't noticed.

all I know is I was hitting .330 with doubles and triples for the first week, now I'm about .180 and hit nothing but bloop singles or home runs.

Nah sorry man, your thread seems like a weird brag more than anything. Look at the entire first sentence lol. Of course things are gonna run smoother & you’ll play better .. you’re going up against a watered-down player base. People have been saying plenty about the timing window issue. This isn’t really any bit of new information. More so, you’re updating everyone that you’re playing & winning in MLB 19.

I can definitely see that too. Kluber is the only pitcher I literally cannot hit. For the most part I can handle everyone else but there are some games where it’s a challenge to put the PCI on the ball and not look stupid vs. Kluber.

Online? If so, remember you started out playing on veteran difficulty in week one. Now you are on All-Star, at least I assume so, if you aren't hitting well currently.

First event was on all star. I hit well. Made it up to pennant race hitting well too. It only takes like 2 wins to get out of veteran.

I'm not trying to say I was ever a great hitter, I suck. But the difference after 1.04 is clear as day.

I think it's been an issue since launch to be honest. Many threads about this topic have been removed, and I've had friends banned for the year for discussing it.
