CPU pitches weird in Showdowns?
-
I swear the CPU in boss showdowns pitches so random and off the wall I can never pick up on it.
it's like they are trying to walk you half the time and then they paint perfect pitches the other half?
has anyone figured it out? I know not all pitchers are the same but most in Showdown are really all over the place that I've seen. I can't figure out if its just so based on momentum that it makes the CPU pitch weird or what it is?
for the people that destroy every boss with ease.. SALUTE lol

I know what you mean, it could just be the computer “changing things up” as strategy but they definitely do throw like 7 straight balls every now and then, and then go back to the regular painting of the corners.
I could also be a confidence thing. After you hit them a few times you might start to see some more balls for a batter or two, and likewise if you ground out into a double play they might get confident and attack you a bit more.

Guaranteed whatever is the least advantageous to you is what will happen. The fact that, due to some coding that says hit probability goes up deeper in the count, we have to keep the bat on our shoulders in order to win a showdown is ludicrous.
This game, in its vanity, mocks itself.

Just sit and wait for the one down the middle and don’t miss it. Easier said than done but if you do it you win.

Yeah it's so weird. Earlier today I went into a final vs Hader. I scored 1 run and lost, the next time i got super lucky and won while i was down to my last out
A couple days ago i won with 15 outs left. I always skip 2nd boss so its usually like 7 or 8 to 15.
I skip 2nd boss because its still a [censored] shoot if I am going to get by that boss. Today I was doing AL west and got beat by 1st boss 2 times in a row.
TA'S are impossibly long if you can't do Showdown. Innings take like 2.5 hours for 5 points. MTO takes 3.5 for 11 points. Unless they are still counting double, that's still 3.5 hours for 22.
But there is no consistency with Showdown, I either get lucky and beat it by the skin of my teeth or I get my [censored] handed to me.
I jumped on practice on Legend and found out basically I have no ability to hit any pitch unless it is down the middle. So I have to wait for those pitches, sometimes they come sometimes they don't.
I wish I knew how people can hit pitches that are inside or outside. I can not swing fast enough to hit a pitch if I have to move the PCI any more than just a hair. I have to wonder if a monitor is the only way I will be able to do Showdown. I keep checking to make sure my TV is in game mode, it is, but I am late on any high 90s FB unless it is coming straight for my PCI.

Yeah, that is the best strategy. However some times they walk you, other times they start painting the corners and you will go 3 or 4 outs in between hits and now the pitcher has high confidence.
The CPU is just insanely inconsistent with his it pitches to you. If you have great PCI placement then these things are easy, the rest of us are just trying to get lucky. I have been using Zone for 3 years and I am still just as bad as I was in 2017.

I wish the game would develop some consistency from year to year. Reinventing the wheel makes it really hard to get better, especially with the amount of randomized outcomes.
