I hate that team affinities are essentially locked behind Showdowns and MTO as the most efficient ways to grind through team affinities. I’m not even bad at Showdowns I’ve probably only failed a handful of times but just the fact that I’m going to fall behind on 75% of teams because I don’t want to spend all my gameplay time doing showdowns is somewhat annoying.

The stat missions should be repeatable or have progressions or there should just simply be more of them. I feel like online players get punished in the team affinities this year.

And yet the offline players get punished in every other aspect of diamond dynasty
Offline players pay the $20 or whatever it is to be able to be on an online service (ps plus) just to play offline. Doesn’t make sense

I play online when I have the time but most of my playing is done offline because I simply dont have the time to devote to a 9 inning ranked season game. I don't think there should be online or offline specific missions like they have for the programs

Oh you mean the mode that is inherently designed to be an online mode? Anyway I wasn’t saying they should take it away. I’m saying there should be efficient ways to grind through TA’s online as well as offline.

New showdown are the difficulty it should have been from the beginning. It's still a grind to get them done, but they don't take exceptionally long and aren't so hard they turn you off from the mode.

New showdowns are great, I completely agree. Stage 1 showdowns suck and it blows you have to do those 2-3 times to even advance to stage 2. I still have teams at zero stars and if I like their future star or any stage 3 card that is a hell of a long grind to put in playing a mode of the game I do not enjoy.

I mean EA and 2K have no problems catering to predominately offline players and making money off them, so I would have to say no this mode isn't inherently designed to be an online mode.

Look at 2k though the only offline game mode is domination and then once you beat it there really isn’t anything else to do besides play online. MLB at least adds a ton of content throughout the year for offline players unlike 2k. The Ultimate team modes were all online modes mainly starting off and The show probably does the best job of all of them with offline content. So yea, maybe now not so much there’s plenty of offline content.

While I don't disagree with the wash, rinse, repeat annoyance of the 2 modes, I still think it's better than the vs. CPU grind of 18's Immortals. That was brutal. The one game stat missions were terrible as well. 18 was probably my least favorite year by far.

Hands down, '18 was the only Show I didn’t make it past June playing.

Offline Content was stripped to a bare minimum when they removed stat grinds for moments. 2k has multiple modes besides domination grinds, which they have 3 of btw. Triple threat, weekly and spotlight challenges, evolution cards that include a stat grind, BY FAR the most offline content of any ultimate team mode. Even EA the scum bags that they are have more offline content than DD, SDS could cater more to offline players is all I am saying and it's really as simple as re introducing stat grinds. I don't need them to focus strictly on offline modes, but releasing a few conquest maps, moments and showdowns here and there isn't really keeping predominantly offline players entertained.

Sure, but 17 had stat missions as well and people didnt complain too much about those, because they weren't excessive like 18.

Instead of fixing a problem, sds throws the while thing away and dies something else completely that causes a different set of problems.

Sorry, but this is by design. SDS clearly has set this up so that the vast majority of players only take a handful or so of these all the way to the end. I for one approve of this, as it will make the reward cards fairly rare.

How are they rare? Every event game I'm up against the same murderer's row of fotf cards. Every game. They certainly arent rare.

What if I complain about cards being behind time grinds such as Ranked Seasons or Battle Royale?

With a 32-6 record in season 1 it took me 38 freaking games to make world series. 38.

For the record I'm not complaining about time sinks I just have come to the realization that they made this mode huge to the point where you won't engage in every single piece of content. Gotta get over it

Stat grinds in '17 were done right. That’s what they should bring back I really miss the career stat missions.

Yea I get what you’re saying. I guess it all comes back to my original point of the entire thread. If they just added a couple more cool stat missions for TA’s ones that took a little bit of time but gave another option for progression it would be a way for online players to progress through playing online and offline players to grind in play vs CPU games. I do miss the the career stat missions from '17.

I will guarantee the summer/fall ones will be fairly rare (by rare, I mean most people will only have a a handful of them, but they could be the same ones if everyone goes for the same teams).

Sometimes I am in the mood for them and they are actually kind of fun. Other times it’s just annoying. Especially when CPU fielders are all on crack. You can 5-6 good/squareds in a row be robbed. Highlight play after highlight play.

I wish there were more statistical missions like “tally 15 RBIs with so and so”. Something to chip away a little more at TAs. But right now the only realistic way is Showdowns.

That is the point though. They don't want people having more than 25% of teams completed. The idea should be that you really only have capacity to accomplish one team, the team you are most passionate about and the biggest fan of. I hope they make super cards that are near impossible to get unless you grind it out for the team you love. that way only the biggest fans of those teams have those cards.

Showdowns have made me a better player. Unable to do any of the divisional I am starting to hit better pitches and lay off 2 strike pitches to the point I just knocked out 2 divisional showdowns back to back NL Central and AL West.

I hope they keep challenging modes like this and not dumb everything down.
