I am wondering if that is just one of the reasons. Watched a few minutes of kevingohd tonight and he mentioned that the vault seemed to be much faster this year. So maybe part of the reason was to improve vault performance.
I could understand that carrying it over year after year could eventually overtax the servers as players had to deal with a vault with probably tens of thousands of duplicate stadiums.
I still say that their vault is in drastic need of a complete overhaul
