RTTS Players in DD
-
@GoozeFn_PSN I don’t care. DD isn’t fun for me anymore. I just don’t want them to ruin RTTS because of it.
-
@genopolanco_PSN I despise this mindset that we can’t have one without the other. We can have both and both can work.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN I’ll believe it when I see it. SDS hasn’t shown that in the past.
-
@genopolanco_PSN Oh, it’s not gonna happen. I’m just saying that both could exist without ruining the other. It infuriates me that they just removed it instead of fixing the problems with it.
-
I think a big reason they removed it was it saved people stubs from having to buy another player in DD. You’d get an OP player for free at any position you want. Every year they have been less and less giving.
-
There are several things that using the "Ballplayer" in both RTTS and DD made worse.
- It severely restricted the freedom in RTTS for those who only play RTTS
- People hurt the DD experience by making submarine pitchers who were impossible to hit.
- People made the ugliest, most unathletic player models they could which everybody they played were forced to look at
-
@genopolanco_PSN Yes, but getting that player to the point of being a top card is a massive grind. Also, using these players doesn’t help TA progress.

It didn’t need to restrict the freedom within RTTS
Simply disallow those windups, or limit the possible velocity from those arm angles.
Boo hoo. You don’t like people’s players appearance. This is a worthless argument to me.
Fix the problems. Don’t just take it out altogether. That’s just lazy.

I may be misremembering, wasnt there a way to bypass the grind and max players in a few days? Didnt SDS implement the xp cap after a few weeks?
-
@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN Yes, but that wasn’t the case in RTTS last year. Maybe with the new talk of advanced simulating, that comes back. Again, there’s always a fix. Make characters advanced by simulating ineligible for DD.
Maybe when you create your player, you choose eligible or ineligible for DD. If you choose eligible, you cannot get tokens from simulating.

Having ballplayers in DD was a terrible idea, is a terrible idea, and forever will be a terrible idea
-
@TheRupster12_XBL Why?
-
@GoozeFn_PSN
Because its easy to abuse, takes away freedom from RTTS players, is incredibly annoying, and all the other reasons everyone already mentioned. We already had this in 22 and it failed. -
@TheRupster12_XBL Like you just said in another thread, why remove it and ruin other peoples fun just because you don’t like it? Most of the issues mentioned are minor and all of them can be fixed.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN
Because this issue affects other people, and offline modes only affect you -
@TheRupster12_XBL What issue affects you that isn’t fixable?

That's the heart of the issue right there. This is the sole reason why SDS made their single most idiotic decision when, despite having Shohei Ohtani as their cover athlete, took away true two-way player capability within RTTS for MLB The Show 23. You see, someone advised SDS leadership that it was somehow an "unfair" advantage for DD players to have a two-way player from RTTS on their DD squad. The reason obliquely offered was that they could earn "double" the attributes.
A mighty thin basis for releasing a patch shortly after the initial release of MLB 23. But, that's what happened. After that "update," suddenly RTTS customers could not hit and pitch in the same game, which is sort of the whole point of having two-way players in the first place!
The point being, that if SDS would stop prostrating themselves rotten appease DD players, then having RTTS created players in the offline options in DD would be a nice idea. But, if there is the slightest inclination of SDS to botch it for the second time, then it's a firm NO for me and likely all RTTS players.

I do want to be clear here...
- I understand and support the idea that CAPs should not be used in competitive, online play. If I ever played competitive (which I have not and have no intention of doing), I admit I would be a bit annoyed playing against a 300lb, 4ft, power hitting speedster with cross eyes, ridiculous hair and throws sidearm.
- I also understand and support the idea that CAPs should be avaiable for offline DD and casual games among friends, as it has no impact on any competitive play at all.
- I also believe that RTTS does not have to be changed to support this ask. If people are happy with RTTS in it's current form, there is absolutely no reason to change it simply because you allow individual users to use CAPs in offline and casual, unranked games.
From this perspective, I dont understand why this is such a sticking point. People that want to use them outside of RTTS can, and they can do so without any impact on competitive play.
There are so many valid points of view on this on both sides, but there is the ability to make everyone happy.
-
@peaturtle_PSN It’s a sticking point because we used to be able to do something that we no longer can. The game has moved backwards because people are annoyed by some people making ugly characters. Meanwhile, we have Tony Stone in DD. Make it make sense.

a stand alone mode where you could import your RTTS player and use them would better serve those requesting RTTS/created players in DD... Diamond Dynasty is for card collecting and putting a team together with those cards... what you looking for is something along the lines of Madden's superstar mode and NBA 2K's Park/City mode where you can play against other created players... Diamond Dynasty doesn't really fit that... but if MLB The Show can create a "Sandlot" mode that's probably more fitting of the type of style of game you want to play as far as modes.
