@ref479ode_PSN You can only slide step with runners on. How is it any different without windups? There’s a new pause between pitches, so no quick pitching either.

You can slide step whether people are on base or not if you're using a pitcher that doesn't wind up like Corbin burnes or virtually every rp

I’m not 100% on this move from SDS. One of the things I like to do as a pitcher online is mess with the timing of the runners and batters. And as a runner, stealing was hard enough with input lag…now it’s going to be virtually impossible.

Overall I think I understand why they might have thought this was a good move…but it’s definitely a net negative.

If they are going to revamp pitching for something nobody has asked for. How about these 2 things…

    1. shrinking sliders…..but we get the 2026 equivalent of “Working as intended”. Make adjustments.
    2. if a pitcher throws a pitch he has to finish that batter.

Yes, I was playing a tight back and forth game with someone into the 10th. No r2, no bunt dance, no weird stuff.

And a guy subbed in kenley with 2 strikes and 2 outs against my batter and I had runners on in the 10th. I struck out looking cause i just didn't pick up the release point.

I quit right after. It ruined the whole experience of the game. We're in February and can't just play a straight up man 2 man game. I haven't played online since that game a few weeks back.

It was such a solid competitive back and forth game too.

No other sports game focusing shortening the time of the game. In NBA games you play shorter quarters (not make the time tick faster). So in baseball you play less innings modes like Battle Royal, and events. They could make a ranked option where you can choose your desired amount of innings. But taking away the windup from pitchers is a lazy/uncreative approach to fixing the length of games. We shouldn't sacrifice realism or what makes players unique from each other to shave off 8 minutes off gameplay. Will not purchase until this gets changed.

@cedarballs_PSN Those other sports are a lot different than baseball. They naturally set pace with a clock. I suppose baseball does that now to an extent, but it’s a much slower paced game that is not as conducive to online play. The best option would be a revamped matchmaking system that matches people based on their settings.

Outstanding points. No logical much less fair way to refute them. SDS did this because they pander to DD players, and length of the games was something too many lodged complaints about. These are people who just want to rush through the grind to earn the virtual trinkets, and this latest SDS response proves once again where SDS's priority lies. As I have written before, current SDS leadership treats MLB The Show like another role playing shooter game, vice something that sharply matches real world baseball.

@cedarballs_PSN And my point is that those other sports don’t have the downtime during the game that baseball does which is why those games don’t have to speed them up in that way. They naturally have a reasonable pace for online play.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL Nobody wants something that resembles a real baseball 3 hour, 9 inning game.

@GoozeFn_PSN In NBA 5 minutes with timeouts, fouls, still last 30 minutes or so. Regardless of pace, it's still the same amount of time 30 minutes or so. Which is a reasonable amount of time. I don't want to play a 15 minute 9 inning game. 30 minutes or so is fine.

@cedarballs_PSN I agree that 30 minutes is fine, but I’d bet that games will still be 30 minutes with this change. Ranked games that go the distance are more like 40-45 minutes currently.
