New Rant About Diamond Quest
-
I know this isn't a hot take, but it's infuriating to play 2 games in Diamond Quest with 84% odds of getting a card and not get it. I know how odds work. I know that it means there's a 16% chance of not getting the card. But I also know that it's ludicrous to devote 2 hours to this stupid thing, win games on the Hall of Fame Level, and walk away without either of the cards with those odds.

I think it’s because the odds are glitched. At least that’s what SDS said when people complained about not getting rewards with 100% chance or something extremely close to it. While it could be true it could also just be a cop out for a broken mode. One look at all the card prices tied to diamond quest tells you all you need to know about how popular the mode is with most players. Sadly, it’s nothing more than a stub farm for elite players that play on GOAT.

I'm still bemused that some are vehement advocates of DQ.
Any mode where there's no guaranteed final reward regardless of performance is bad for the consumer.

I think some people say they like it because they make money with it.
I mean these cards are still available right? Does DQ maps expire? Yet a player like Summer Sonny Gray is still being sold for around 100K which tells me that people just don't play the mode or otherwise the market price would not still be that high.

Yeah, it's obvious that people just aren't playing DQ. Why go through moments, showdown, and a game where you do everything asked of you, and you still aren't guaranteed to get the reward?

I personally love DQ. My only suggestion would be to have next year's quests set up like the Smith/Murray quest...where every moment is played with our DD team. I really dislike being locked into doing a moment with a random player.

It 100% needs to have a failed run still give you some kind of progress, but if its just moments and showdowns again next year I will not play it. I just dont find showdowns fun, and moments have their place in programs but are far too rng reliant for a mode like this for my tastes.
i want to play actual games.
