The Player Count is Worse than Ever It Seems
-
I’m having trouble finding games in Division Series now. This is sad
-
Game has catered to WS+ players this year. Not surprising.
-
Yep.
One only needs to look at the price of a card like Zach Wheeler to see just how few of the player base remain. It's sad, because this program would have been an excellent way to re-engage the casual fanbase however all It's done is alienate them.
-
The extreme program design was the final nail in the coffin for the non elite players. So basically 99% of players have bailed based on this tone deaf decision by SDS.
-
Im fine with them releasing Extreme for the elite players but maybe they could add some content for the non elite players. I am not someone that believes everyone should be able to get every card. I won’t touch extreme because it’s just too far out of my ability. But I have nothing to do in the game anymore. And we know Finest TA is just a voucher exchange so the game cycle ended extremely early us this year. It’s really a shame
-
I disagree, I think everyone should be able to get every card simply because these cards may be someone's favorite player. I think the game should be designed for baseball fans first and foremost. Its okay for some people to get cards earlier, or have fancier looking versions, but if Elly is your favorite player you should be able to get his best card.
The biggest issue with the extreme program is it is a step backwards from the last couple years in being more broadly accessible.

I think it is a little premature to say that it has ended. We have the Championship Series program(s), The World Series Program, The Conclusion of the Spooky Program. There could be a retro legends program as there are still a lot of legends without good cards
- Gary Carter
- Orlando Cepeda
- Duke Snider
- Vida Blue
- Bruce Sutter
- Harmon Killebrew
- Larry Doby
- Satchel Paige
- Jim Palmer
- Ralph Kiner
- Bert Blyleven
- Catfish Hunter
- Harold Baines
- Lou Brock
- Bob Feller
- Dennis Eckersly
- Whitey Ford
- Eric Gange
- Fernando Valenzuela
And those are just the ones with best cards of 92 and below and does not include Negro League players (except Satchel).
There are enough Negro League Players to be upgraded that they could do a program with them.
They could have a retirement program for some of the non-superstar players who have announced or already retired (Lance Lynn, Whit Merrifield, Nick Ahmed, Matt Carpenter, Kyle Gibson and others). These guys will be out of the game starting next year and maybe forever so why not give them a final hurrah?

@Ericulous1_XBL
You guys act like the average user doesn't have enough content. So this presumably eliminates collections and for the sake of making this easy all purchasable cards as well.- There's 10 SPOTLIGHT PROGRAMS FEATURING A 99. Collect every final reward from the program which is COMPELTELY free, get yet another 99. That would earn Adames, Turang, and Polanco.
- I'm pretty sure there have been 15 99s from the XP reward path (this also accounts for the other 99 who isn't in the boss pack like Gossage and Joc Pederson).
- If I counted correctly there are 14 free 99s from the player programs featuring 99 MIKE TROUT and 99 CLAYTON KERSHAW, two of the best cards at their respective positions.
- Excluding Extreme, there are 17 themed programs featuring at least one 99, including Kyle Schwarber, Joe Mauer, Roy Halladay, Daniel Murphy, Roberto Clemente, Roki Sasaki, David Wright, and Stan Musial.
- There are 32 99s from TA.
I get the cards aren't ELITE level since most of those cards are either in Collections, Chase Packs, or Weekend Classic (Mookie Betts, Rob Dibble, and Fernando Tatis Jr. are also in WS but those are the only good ones) but you can't say SDS hasn't released a good chunk of free content.
-
I agree the Extreme program is very extreme this year. I'm not an elite player and even I completed Extreme within a week of actually grinding it (mainly because of the Mini Season but I did complete a bunch of the moments as well). It's honestly TOO extreme to the point where it's going to be too difficult for me to do it. Players a whole lot better than me feel the same. Even that one guy on here with the 1000 rating icon agrees. Plus, only THREE cards are in the program. There were at least 4 last year and I think there have been more in the past. I hope in a future update SDS adds a mini season since this drop most likely drove a lot of players away for good, so it would be nice if they catered to the remaining group.
-
Also, am I the only one who notices that it's basically impossible for buy and sell orders to go through?
-
It would be a great time to add the game to game pass and ps plus.

Extreme has always been catered to the better players. Infact the argument could be made that with the repeatable PXP mission (never been there before) it is actually easier to complete. Again though it has always been made to be hard and basically only a better then average player can complete. This is ABSOLUTELY the easiest the Extreme Showdown and Conquest have ever been. Both are beatable with a little patience and DQ is just as easy since failing a mission doesn't down grade your reward chance. Yes DQ rewards are a little wonky but if you play all the way through and can win on All-star you will most likely have both cards after about 3-4 runs (rng luck sure).

Repeatable PXP for Extreme has been in the game for the last few Extremes.
They took away the repeatable mini seasons, which just ended my excitement for Extreme.
