Why did SDS bother bringing the Negro Leagues into the game?
-
The Negro Leagues deserve better. 3 years ago when SDS announced they had partnered with the NL and were going to add those players to the game, I was SO ecstatic. Gibson, Paige, Bell, ect…Were some of the very best to ever do it and were never given their due. I was thrilled they were being added. But what SDS has done is essentially segregate them from the rest of DD. We get an extremely mid version and then nothing until the end of the year when they release 99’s of a few of them. Why are we not getting updated versions the way we have gotten 4 or 5 of some MLB players already? Why don’t the Negro League players have captains assigned to boost them & make them usable online? Heck, 4 months into the game & I can’t even use all the uniforms or stadiums yet because they haven’t been unlocked yet. What are we waiting for? They’re uniforms & stadiums!! Let us use them for F’s sake!!!
Rant over…I’m sure the SDS fanboys will somehow offer a defense of how SDS has handled the Negro Leagues since acquiring them….Absolute Marks.

The Storylines have been very cool, but they do feel forgotten between launch and when their 99s come out. Maybe a TA or an evolution program would be kinda cool. The problem for me is that the TA and program stat grinds have been pretty intense this year, so it’s harder to find room for cards that don’t earn progress toward anything. Still, I would rather have them than not have them in the game.

Your points are 100% valid and perhaps even the fanboys who think anything posted critical of SDS is somehow a personal insult to them will realize this is a fumbled opportunity.
It amazes me that SDS has so totally limited the scope of the Negro League players and teams in the games, restricting it to the tightly scripted Moments. At minimum SDS should have added the option to play Negro League games in the Exhibition Mode, if not actually allowed for a mini-version of League Play options versus the CPU using Negro League teams and schedules.
If SDS really wanted to introduce a wow factor into MLB 25 they would have by now introduced a mini version of RTTS, where in addition to the normal MLB option, customers could also create a special Negro League avatar player and used that player in a special Negro League format. How cool would that have been! To play games from the past using all the Negro League era stadiums.
Again, proper upgrades to Stadium Creator could have even allowed stadium designers to create historically realistic versions of the many Negro League ballparks and allowed those to be added to this special RTTS option.
But, all of this would have required SDS to write significant additional code to the game, something they don't seem willing to do any longer, and I guess being they are a monopoly, they don't feel they have to. Still, in this case, one would think respect for this historic league would have carved out a special exception. But, I guess not!

We talked about this last year. They bring in this cool thing with the storylines and then they refuse to give us cards for them that are good enough to use outside of Donaldson. It could have been so much better.

Because it's so much better to make a showdown and lock the players behind that instead of using the Negro Leauge storylines..... the Storylines themselves are one of my favorite things about the recent games.
But I will say it again, I hate showdown.

One thing is that the NL cards should have been implemented in the team affinity somehow. Such as having a voucher system to use where at certain stages in their team affinity you can use them for any other affinity for XP. It’s already hard enough to get any progress on for example pitching for the Rockies.
