Enough with the Mandatory Mini Seasons
-
More mini seasons, especially themed mini seasons where you can only use certain cards.
Those are the best like the rebuild one or Lefty Longball. You get to change it up, try new cards, face new cards, and maybe discover a gem.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN going extra hard on simping today. To compare mini season boss cards that count towards collections with the 1000 gold WS cards that don’t is incredibly obtuse (likely intentional so to get your daily simp points).
And while I love mini seasons, I see the other side here when it comes to collections.
-
@GradektheBard_PSN I did the collection without finishing the mini season. I think I played 4 games to get 2 of the players. It’s not in any way mandatory.
-
I personally like mini seasons, however, I agree with the OP that if you are going to make your game revolve almost entirely around collections, having unsellable cards that are only available by playing a certain mode is not only a bad idea, but also violates the “play your way” mantra. This applies to everything and not just mini seasons (conquest/showdown too). Either make the cards sellable (and repeatable like the conquest prospects from a few years ago) or allow people to exchange a like collection card for one of the unsellable ones (ie a 97 ASG card for the Schwarber, etc).
-
@GradektheBard_PSN I’m all for making everything sellable, but I can’t stand people suggesting they stop doing things most people like.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN I’m gonna guess there are way more people who do not like how content is spread out than what these boards represent. It takes 5 hours or so to finish a mini season, I would bet for a huge percentage of their customers that is a significant percentage of their weekly play time. Lots of people just like to play with their ultimate team H2H and hate offline grinding.

Lucky for SDS, they don't have to guess. They have the internal metrics and can see exactly what people are playing and how long.
I can only assume they continue to put rewards into MiniSeasons because people are playing it.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN their data would be flawed because right now people feel like they have to play mini seasons et al to get those unsellable cards. It’s like showdown, do you honestly think anyone would play showdown if not for the unsellable cards it gets you?

That's probably why you've seen a drastic reduction in the number of showdowns offered this year when compared to last.
-
@GradektheBard_PSN Good thing mini seasons aren’t mandatory.
-
Obviously they are not mandatory, I am completely aware of the fact this is a video game and I’m not forced to play it. I just don’t understand why they are pushing this mode so much that is hours and hours of mindless playing cpu at fields with ridiculous batters eyes. They have data that shows people are playing a lot of mini seasons but I’m sceptical that is entirely organic since they put these exclusive cards in this mode and make it so it literally takes 7 hours of playing time to complete. Showdowns only take 30 mins to complete and then it’s over with no reason to play again. I’d play showdowns all day if they put these exclusive mini seasons cards in showdown too so we have a choice. I’m just saying why are we being forced to play 15 + mini seasons games to get a Jonathan Aranda card so we can get the Jose Ramirez card that we really want in collections.
I guess I’m an outlier in this, I just really think mini seasons is boring, the only challenge is trying to pick up the ball on the BS batters eyes in these stadiums. I like playing online and DQ or showdown let us play how we want SDS.
-
@Redd666ish_PSN you are not an outlier in this. All the people commenting that they like mini seasons armt good at the game and prefer to play offline. Or they have time to play this game 8 hours a day. Which is fine for them. But your point is very valid.

Most of the people who don't like mini seasons are folks who don't like having to face non live series bronze and common pitching, they'd rather play nine inning games against the Rockies on rookie at a max elevation stadium. Hence the complaints about having to play road games.
And, there's a commenter in here who is 22-3 in Ranked so.......I'd say they're good at the game.

So set it up to play the games at your home stadium, the missions carry over so restart when you get road games and play home games for the missions

I'm good enough at the game to beat the cardinals stadium in the summer DQ on goat and I like mini seasons.
-
I enjoy mini-seasons. Sure its time consuming, but I feel like the pace they have been releasing them has been pretty good so I haven't gotten sick of them yet. And they are great for grinding out programs, especially with the lack of conquests. I hope they keep releasing them.
-
@SpawnOfDitka_XBL that’s one of the dumbest things you’ve said yet, and in your case, that’s saying a lot.
-
@SpawnOfDitka_XBL I do just fine online and I like mini seasons. Speak for yourself.
-
Who the heck likes mini seasons? Are the majority of you 12 year Olds? Repetitive play against the cpu is not fun . I am an online player cause I want to get better. A cpu can never play or equate to playing another human. If you want to get better at this game. Stay away from the cpu.

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL
I would agree with you that mini seasons are boring and repetitive, however, not everyone has the same opinions. Having distinct modes and incentives to play them is important to the game.
