Did I bench Jim Edmonds for the wrong reason?

I was playing tonight (yes, I do occasionally still play) and noticed that Jim Edmonds was about 40 PXP away from being the first position player I have ever gotten to P5. With double PXP that could be done in one at bat.

I then noticed that Ted Simmons was only about 400 PXP away from P5 so I benched Edmonds (thanks to Donovan having the same exact captain boosts) so that Ted Simmons would be my first ever position player to reach P5

For the record Adam Wainwright was my first ever pitcher P5.
