Okay, so this is for two RTTS players- it's the only mode I play, so this isn't like for a competitive advantage or anything, but it's driving me fairly nuts, so I thought I'd see if any of the expert/knowledgeable players might be able to help me out.

Also, this may be relevant (or not) but I'll say it anyway- the only slider I've changed is putting power one tick higher, the rest are standard. I play on All-Star difficulty. I've checked and made sure that both playthroughs have the same sliders and have the same difficulty levels. They also share the same batting stance and swing. Functionally, they're copies of each other with the exception of the position they play (Player 1: CF, player 2: SS)

So, I have two players in this case; we'll call them player 1 (high contact/power) and player 2 (lower contact/power).

    Here's player 1's attributes:

    Here's player 2's attributes:

The thing that's absolutely thrown me for a loop is that it's way easier to hit on player 2. Player 1's stats are much higher, and she struggles to maintain average and has comparatively fewer HR's over the last season (player 1: 41 HR, player 2: 65 HR). I see the ball/pitches much more clearly on player 2, it feels like hitting with player 2 is like hitting on a difficulty level at least one or two tiers below All-star, even though it's not. I get much better hits with player 2; more base hits, more extra-base hits, more HR's.

I don't get it, at all. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks for the help!

I've noticed that 70+ stats are in the games opinion when players start getting decent at hitting. PCA 89 OVR Easter egg card for example. The two players you showed are decent players. I have been told that each players personal swing plays a role in hitting. Some players have a swing that you end of preferring and others have a swing that isn't as fast around to the ball or smooth. I personally think it all comes down to concentration, timing, patience, and PCI placement.

No matter who I hit with if I stay patient and take balls and make them throw me a 3-2 pitch I have a 98% chance that I crack a hit into a gap or over a wall.

I sit with my PCI locked up top and stay ready for the 103 4Seam up high and then react downward to anything else that's coning down in the zone.

    PRECISION RINGS ARE A GAMECHANGER.
highly recommend buying 2 packs. Also having the ps5 edge dual sense controller keeps some problems away you can't imagine. Being able to edit your left and right stick dead zones however you please has actually tweaked how smooth and accurately I move my PCI around the box.
Ultimately though, if you approach every at bat with patience and Always stay ready for the high fast ball and force them to either walk you or pitch a gift In the box will make you better immediately.
What I've been struggling with hitting is discipline to not swing even when I saw long time ago that the pitch is bad.

Oh ya. If you can catch onto the pitchers pattern as fast as possible and start having good idea of what pitch he is going to throw next and prepare your PCI for it ahead of time it will raise your contact at the least.

    Recap:
    Swing less
    Anticipate location/speed
    Precision Rings
Determine patterns for each opposing pitcher
Stay ready for 100+ fast ball High

I guarantee you will hit more with everyone if you can learn to swing less and work yourself into 3-2 counts 2-2 counts while recognizing where they like to locate the balls when they're losing in the count. Lot of pitchers start spamming the 4seam when you put them in a position like 2-0....3-0 ... cause they're uncomfortable and don't wanna walk you so they resort to a pitch that's easy to strike and hard to hit if the batter isn't prepared for the speed. When you got them in that situation you know your about to crack a base hit or HR.

There is always gonna be players that you automatically have more success hitting and getting on with base with. I don't exactly think that each hitters personalized swing animation really effects the outcome to much. Because every player has to hit X to swing and learning when to hit X at the right time to make good contact is something I don't believe a swing type makes any easier or harder. I think that timing is always the same.

I think you are more confident and comfortable with player 2 and since you know you have more success at the plate with player 2 your confidence using him subconsciously helps you out. Your probably more patient with player 2 as well and get into more full counts and advantage counts cause you know you always do well with player 2. Idk man. Good luck.

@Slyravaniste_XBL I don’t have the full answer to your question but a 99 pow 99 con hitter obviously hits more line drives and HRs than a 60 Pow 60 con hitter

    Now
say a 99 contact and 60 power guy hits more line drives than HRs

Then you have a 60 contact and 99 power guy hits less line drives, but will actually hit every hit type slightly harder than even the 99 contact 99 power hitter. It’s to compensate for their fewer “BAWLS”put into play.

Confusing but I don’t make the game haha

    Hey, thanks for the response!

In this case- the players are exactly the same. They're both RTTS players, and they have exactly the same... well, everything. Batting stance, swing, height- they're copies of each other, with the sole exception that they play different positions and one is more advanced (I've played them longer) than the other.

I'm definitely not going to discount the mental factor. You could very well be right, that maybe I had a couple of bad weeks with player 1, got annoyed/frustrated, and that's led to poor play. I sat in practice mode and recorded about 30 pitches (without swinging), and did the same for player 2, then watched them back; taken out of the game and looking only at how I view pitches, I saw only very tiny differences, where before I was absolutely sure I could see the ball better with player 2.

I took a few days off, and changed the batting stance for player 1- I was using a random stance (veteran 48, I think) and I switched her to Mike Trout just to get a bit of freshness into it, and my hitting on that player started going up again, so I think you were definitely right.

There are still some little things that I wonder about, like the ratio of contact to power and how it effects things, whether the higher vision/contact, regardless of power, leads to different outcomes.

Also, you mentioned precision rings- I do use those! A few of the other suggestions are things I could definitely work on as well. Would maybe bumping up the difficulty help me be a bit more patient and help me with anticipation, do you think?

Anyway, thank you all for the help. It's much appreciated!

@Slyravaniste_XBL when you pause the game there’s a guide that details pretty good on players stats and how they compare to everything
