Another example of deliberate degradation of customer customization
-
I hesitate to bring this up, but for anyone who is on the fence about whether or not SDS is neutral on the idea of properly supporting customer customization of the game experience, here is another example of the problem. And yes, it has been something that a great many customers at this community forum has asked for over the last several years.
On the theme of things SDS could easily do to breath life and atmosphere into custom stadiums. Have you noticed that in the fans are wearing mostly clothes in the theme of the home team, with a few wearing clothes themed on the road team, and fewer still decked out in neutral colors. But, that option for the fans to wear the colors of the home team isn't implemented for teams with custom branding: logos, uniforms, names, etc ...
The solution to this one has been there the whole time. In the setup of customized team branding, just add to the uniform setup not only a road and home alternate uniform option, as well as a city theme uniform, but also a half dozen fan outfits. Then, use those uniform and fan clothes options in the games played in either default stadiums or custom stadiums.
What that would do is match the team setup for the 30 default official MLB teams as well as for their assigned MiLB teams. It wouldn't improve custom teams over the official teams, but would merely upgrade them to the default standard.
Since MLB 21 first incorporated custom stadiums, this simple suggestion has been a yearly request, until more recently people got tired of asking for it -- giving up on the notion that SDS cares enough to provide it. Yet, over the course of five yearly game titles not one bit of this has been added.
That reality is worth more than a hundred comments from any forum community manager. Actions speak louder than words, and it isn't an obstacle in the road just for what Update #15 did, but also for stuff just like this.
SDS isn't merely neutral on customer customization. They are hostile to it, and will only support it on a seriously degraded level, just to make marketing claims that it's in the game.

I also really wish we could choose the fans in old-time clothing like in the Negro League Storylines. How cool would that look in the old jewel box-style stadiums we created?

I've been a proponent of "crowd type" selection in custom stadiums. At this point I'll be happy if they just change the d@mn template away from jewelbox...nobody has had it for...decades
