Classic Stadiums Post #2
-
I made a post before saying I haven’t been getting any classic stadium pulls all year. Most of you all agree. I also said I wouldn’t mind if the classic jerseys and classic stadiums were mixed 50/50 pulls. I don’t understand why stadiums should be so hard to pull. Part of the fun in playing baseball games is the variety in stadium choices. It’s cool playing in stadiums you’ve never seen in person. Or even ones you go to often and just love to play. Am I crazy for thinking stadiums should be as common as jerseys?

Of course you are not crazy! It's a basic concept of video games -- to ensure that the content can remain interesting, and nothing erodes interest as quick as staleness. If you play the same 30 stadiums it will absolutely diminish interest to play. And that's true for all game modes. In baseball, more than any other team sport, the stadium provides a huge input into the nature of the play. Only a golf course can rival this, and golf isn't really a team sport.
Piggy back this on the idea that there is a game mode named Custom Stadiums that is just begging to be upgraded from its initial release concept back with MLB 21, but SDS stubbornly refuses to do it. In fact, they expend extra effort to keep it stale!
Imagine a practically unlimited number of stadiums you can download and play games in, based on historic, current, or fantasy themes! Only SDS operates like this isn't a big deal.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL well dome. Perfectly said. I agree. Variety is super important in not losing interest in the game. I agree that the dimensions of the stadium also play a big role in the variety of how a game will play. A stadium like Fenway for example you can hit a line drive in the corner and it can ricochet to give you the possibility of a triple or inside-the-park. Plus the aesthetics of the stadiums and to the charm of the game.

I'll take it a step further, with the proper degree of inherent flexibility, imagine playing in baseball venues from the 1870's to 1910's where outfield walls if they even existed at all, were so far away as to not matter to the actual game play. You could play stadiums that were crafted originally for state fairs or polo matches. I mean there is a reason why it was called the Polo Grounds -- for decades before baseball games, that is the primary sport played in that venue!

@PriorFir4383355_XBL that’s pretty cool to think of honestly. That’s why I like play at the Field of Dreamt stadium. The nostalgia of the movie plus the thought of playing in a cornfield is pretty cool to me. I’m from the city so I don’t get to see cornfields often, unfortunately.

They used to add stadium packs throughout the various programs in years past, last year they stopped or forgot or whatever, and this year is worse. They are obviously to so many things.
-
@davisonkj17_PSN I remember that, I mean if I had a choice pulling a good live series player first I would definitely do that. I haven’t pulled Ohtani,Judge,Witt or Ramirez all year. I just want to play new stadiums. I mean uniforms are cool but I made the uniforms I wore in college and I most likely won’t change them.
-
Why not take stadiums out of packs completely and put them in my journey?

@Teak2112_MLBTS that’s what I’m talking about. Great idea!
