Have needed one more collection to get 99 Rolen for some time now. Spring Breakout or Negro Leagues.
Can't get it done because I'm lousy at showdowns. I've read tips on the Jackie Robinson one about using good bunters, fast players and bunt cheese attribute. Did all that and successfully laid down one out of six bunts. Failed each of the final two mini bosses and then scored about 12 runs off Donaldson, but of course I needed about 24.I have no desire to even try to win four showdowns in the Spring Breakout. That whole idea is stunningly bad.
I'm thinking there will be another set of Negro League storylines before the season is done, so I can at least get Donaldson.
Is that just wishful thinking on my part?
Spring breakout is only twice now, you get 2 players each time you beat it.
You can prepare for facing these difficult pitchers, just about all pitchers you face in the summer miniseason throw upper 90s and quite a few have outlier, good practice for facing these showdown pitchers in SB or NL showdowns.

you have to drag bunt in showdown with fast guys at the top of your line up.. bunt with lead off guy. get on. steal first pitch. hold R2, L1 take lead then L2 then release buttons. but make sure you wait til pitcher looks over to trigger the steal. but hold r2 right away..pitcher won't throw over or pitch while holding r2. Doing this, you will steal the bag every time.
Once on second, bunt again doing drag bunt..I forgot to mention...drag bunt toward second base. hold the left stick up toward the second baseman position. so it will be placeed there when you bunt. same for right or left handed batter. If successful. you will have runners on first and third. Steal again the same as I mention previously above. This time hold the left stick toward first while pressing L2 so only the runner on first steals 2nd. you don't want to have you guy in third try and steal home in the pitch. Say you are you successful doing that.. you canbhave fast banter batting 3rd and bunt again.. 4th and 5 batters should be guys that can hit for power. drive in those runners.. try that and Repeat that process over until you get it..practice on the beginner showdown in game...to get it down. then try it. I have done this many times. watch YouTube how to beat showdowns.

No, because SDS wants to lock major COLLECTION rewards behind performance in a single mode, thus defeating the entire point of collections. Easily solvable by making gold cards that came out in March sellable, but they apparently are just going to continue to refuse to do that.

Now you have to have certain series to complete major collections and 10000 little collections

I'll just say this, if people who are bad at the game put as much effort into the game or showdowns as they do constantly complaining about them here on the boards, they might actually get better.

@theBlindRhino_NSW well, they are if they give up after losing one. I sucked at showdowns when i first started as well. I'm an above average MLB the show player. I haven't lost a showdown or mini showdown in a couple of years...minus the extreme.

I think I've beat them all the necessary amount of times but now I'm not sure. How can you tell you've completed the showdowns if you are old and can't remember doing it?

The required showdowns are very easy. If you can bet the cpu in a regular game on rookie/vet you won’t have an issue

@mietha_MLBTS Collections in general are so bad this year. Every collection behind really paywalls. Most all star cards were in chase packs well over 100k each or in my case the .000001% chance of pulling them. It really is a paywall if you can't pull the card in packs or it takes you a month to get those stubs because the only thing you can pull in 300 packs are 2 85 LS chase packs and 3 of the base models in all the other collections. Spotlight cards and topps now cards the same way. You couldn't play the game and get these. You either needed to get extremely lucky pulling them or pretty much had to buy a lot of them. Ted and Rollins behind these types of cards. Santana and Harper behind the spotlight joke. Beltran and Hodges behind a 650k card. I really hope people hit them in the pocket book next year either by not buying the game or buying a lesser version. In my case the $40 extra dollars I spent on the deluxe version was useless. I could flush $40 down the toilet and get the same return.
I stopped playing this game competitively a few years ago because it is just not worth the headache. I have zero interest in trying to play HOF against clemens, beltran, hodges, castro, santana, harper, ted, mauer, reynolds, posada, randy, baustista, vlad jr, yordan. 300 hours in and I have exactly 1 of these players in clemens. Comical.

If it makes u feel better I pulled Judge week 1 and haven’t pulled a single other card 90 plus from the start date therefore I am not close to finishing even a single division and I play a lot at night and on the weekends

@theBlindRhino_NSW Oh, you mean like Google Fiber? Have it wired in and technically not in my network and still runs like garbage. That's what happens when you match someone p2p over 1000 miles away sharing their wifi with 50 neighbors. Just another reason I play to play. Don't give a [censored] about my record. If the game is playing bad or I'm not having fun I just quit. Learned to accept the game plays like garbage on my wired fiber a long time ago. I literally see faster pitch speeds on all star than I see from these streamers playing legend. I see faster pitch speeds online all star than I do on GOAT against the CPU. I can actually be early on a 98 fastball on GOAT against the CPU and always late on that or 93 sinkers online all star.

My advice was tailored to those who haven't or maybe thought they couldn't. -
