Baserunning is so bad this year

I have auto baserunning off. Hit in 5-6 hole. Runner on 1. Hit L1 to make sure they run. They do run. All the way past second and onto third lol. It’s comical.

I had a similar thing happen with Trout, hit a double, he was supposed to stop at 2b but kept going , it caught my opponent off guard. And got a triple. Lol.

You also can’t hit R1 to get back when u lead off far to take advantage of the guy not holding u on. Not sure why that was taken out. Just add a pick off stat or make it matter with fielding more.

Never use the L and R to advance runners. always use classic (buttons and d-pad) baserunning.

Base running, CPU pitching, hitting, and fielding ALL have so many issues this year

No decent players use L1 and R1 when moving runners. You highlight the runner and choose where you want them to go with the face buttons. This has been the best way for years

Yep they are all painfully bad this year. The game looks great but plays very subpar.

@huskerfan051214_XBL Is this during an online game? I've never had that happen vs CPU but I have had it happen in an online game.

This is definitely an online issue with lag/latency. Extending a lead offline I just tap L1, online sometimes I have to tap multiple times or long press L1. Sometimes it will cause my runner to go with balls in play at the most inopportune time like a liner or fly ball.

Another thing about base running, well running in general. I've had the CPU beat out easy infield outs with speeds in the 50s , I've had them leg out Triples in the gap with speeds in the 40s, and on defense they close the gap on balls super quick. Meanwhile, unless I've got speeds in the 90s you're out at first....even had the CPU throw out my runner with 69 speed after fielding a ball on the grass after having to run the opposite way to field it. Triples in the gap are tough even for my 90s guys, and my outfielders run in mud....

I have had an absolute TON of times my player on first just starts taking off without me touching the button at all. I also have a lot of times where I barely bump L1 and a runner takes off but then I’m literally SMASHING R1 and there’s zero reaction. Lastly on this topic I wish they would add a SPEED BOOST while base running. Like why can’t I have a boost of extra effort that doesn’t make every baserunner go?
