What an awesome Moonshot drop

First of all: I did not want to use the all-negative-(business as usual)-thread that exists
What do I like:
- Big program
- Lots of new cards
- New series
- new collection
- New nice mini season format
- Exciting Diamond Quest … A moonshot version … imo the easiest so far, I beat both stadiums on HOF like 7-1 … and I got all the rewards
- Nice multiplier
- The best: There are lots of cards that fit the moonshot theme … That is something different and really refreshing coming from the last 2 years, where we basically had multiple high-diamonds of the same players (OOP out-of-scope
)
What do I not like:
- Too many cards (again) necessary for the big collection
- Not enough ways to earn some packs for free (could be more)
But … awesome program, that was a heck of a job !!!

I thought the program was good. I don’t really understand the players they used for the most part. I get taking a not usually power guy and giving him power and making it fun, but you take a gold glover in a few cases and just say their stats fielding suck just because. Just a strange selection of players.

I am mostly in agreement.
We need more programs like this where multiple game modes are involved.
However I cant ignore the cash shop part of it. The tricky thing is it remains to be seen how frequently we get this pack. The 10k pack needs to be at least as common as deluxe packs in the future. But Buxton really isnt worth the long term effort, or big stub dump, to get him. This card should be the one thats on par with Wili Castro. Grandal looks nice though, but I just want more balance between earnable and pack/stub/luck based.
We have two collections like that at least, De Vries and Donaldson, and would be nice to see more of that
While this may seem contradictory of the stubs thing, I think stuff should also be sellable in most cases: mini season cards in particular. Not everyone likes mini seasons, while some people love them. Let the people that hate the mode buy the cards off people who do. Those people would in turn use the stubs earned to buy cards from other modes they dont prefer to play, and we create a nice cycle of truly play how you want. I mostly fear a 23 situation all over again, which was by far the best year of programs the game has ever seen (leaving out the sets and seasons from this). People had some fair complaints, but instead of addressing them while keeping the main content intact they basically made 2024 the year of tiny programs which left people like me wondering where the cards all were. I already see 'collection fatigue' from some, which was the main issue with 23's program content: people felt compelled to do the stuff they didnt want because they needed the cards for collections.
Thats the tricky balance: they should be focusing on 2023 as a benchmark from a quantity standpoint (and yes its perfectly fine to release a 85, 92, 97 and 99 of the same player particularly if he played for multiple teams, OP can get over it) but when every card is needed for a collection of some kind it can become a bit too much for people
And i just want to point out two issues with the timing of this program:
- Rivalry weekend. They had a great idea with 2 well thought out cards, why didnt they make this big drop around that
- Moonshot would have worked better later in the year when the cards are 95 overall and they could lean into the fantasy better, without sacrificing things like Brock's speed and making 95% of these cards defensive liabilities.

Adding IP to the event for program points was a solid addition.

Both Rivalry and Moonshot are basically: play baseball the traditional way, and complete programs. It’s that simple.

Do you have to play online to complete the program?
