Pay to win/ not worth it
-
If folks come on in here defending this BS, they might want to take a look at some of the context creator material on YouTube to see the proof in the pudding. I'm the LAST guy that watches content from anybody but I happened to catch info last night after I was frustrated with this path SDS is taking. Sure enough: released content nerfed, pack content boosted (or at least on par with the actual ratings). It truly is horseshit and I'm starting in on other games this weekend until something is done about it. Which. Won't. Happen.

As I am sure you could understand, obtaining and playing with the cards you want is more important to a lot of people than just their win/loss record. I am going to make WS if I get the cards I want or not. Other people aren’t to make WS even if they get given every single card in the game. But the second person is potentially going to enjoy the game more than I do.
Winning should not be this irrelevant. Winning cannot be everything as everyone deserves an opportunity to enjoy the game. But nerfing everything that isn’t pack-driven content just flat out isn’t fun, even when you’re winning. If you don’t win a lot, that may be hard to understand because I get that losing sucks. But the goal isn’t to win games, it’s to have fun.
-
You’re the proof it’s not pay to win.
You don’t have to have all the cards RIGHT AWAY; that is FOMO/OCD, change your mindset.
Every year, some “content creators” will cry about the same things, it creates more engagement than “I pulled Ohtani out of a Silver DQ pack”.
Every year the hitting is the worst we’ve ever seen and people are swearing off the game and come back the next game to cry some more.

Watched a creator last year that would take silvers online and beat god squads with the best boosts there towards the end. Like all 99s, 125 hitting and power on almost all the hitters. Some of his silvers would be supercharged but still those 99s should have won. So I think it’s skill that wins.

@MrNintendo_MLBTS . I've also seen a content creator take commons, and bronzes and make it to World Series so it's definitely skill that wins

You do realize it is the trend that's been going on the last few years....more cards being behinds packs and all....and they promote how much stubs Rolen and Santana would cost....it's the age of micro transaction and where games are just base....other rewards require opening up your wallet. The object is to show you class C and D cards and hide the Aand B cards behind packs and such. This gane is just following the trend in video games
The trend is to action RPGs and a brand new studio said screw that and made the game of the year with Expedition 33.
Just because everyone else is doing it doesnt mean SDS should. Granted its probably Sony making them do this, but we shouldnt excuse it because its the industry trend.
1000% agreement.

@x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN how does one obtain the stubs to get the cards for collections? certainly isn’t from winning games.
How did you obtain the cards you have now?
I assume, if you only need 1.6M to get Beltran; you need most of the Gatekeepers?
How did you get the other cards?
I need the Gatekeepers myself. That's ALL I need to get Beltran. I also have most of the FB/Legend cards. Plus over 300K in stubs.
I haven't played Ranked and I have never went Flawless is BR. Yet, I assume, I have the same cards as you. I didn't pay a single dime over the cost of the game.
-
I am so over these posts…The OP says it’s pay to win…Then immediately follows that with “I’ve made WS every month and gone flawless in BR every month.”….Guess what pal?! THATS NOT PAY TO WIN!!!
-
I think pay to win is a bit of a non issue...if you're good you're good...more like pay to enjoy the more fun cards...we already pay 150 for the game...25 a month for PS subscription...in real money these cards are 250 to 300 bucks...they remove most ways to flip....get return on a pack...heck, I remember quick selling diamonds that were already collected....all these revenue avenues are gone....I think we even had updates every week...so many stubs back then...lol

@Jackmo709_XBL THIS 100%

I guess it boils down to how you describe "winning". To me it is winning against another opponent. I am not even sure if "winning" in that respect even applies to offline players. In this definition of "winning" the game is not pay to win.
"Winning" to others may be completing all the collections or getting every card in the game. If that is your definition then I can see the point. I don't necessarily agree with that definition but I can understand it.
And for those who counter that you can get every card in the game by flipping cards or investing, while I see that as a valid strategy for some, I don't consider an actual answer to the problem. Nobody should have to basically play a commodity market simulator to afford cards nor even pay attention to how players are doing in real life to invest in them.
All that said I think there is nobody who can say that SDS has not ratcheted up the monetization in the last few years. I have been complaining about it since they started putting what I would consider Program Rewards into packs. That may have been back when they had the Father's Day program where they rewarded cards for fathers and sons and then Stuck Matt and Jackson Holliday in a Diamond Duos pack. It has been going downhill ever since.
If you want to talk Pay to Win, then just give Out of The Parks Perfect Team mode a try. I love that game for franchise play but the Perfect Team mode is pretty much pay to win.

I would say more of a pay to get cards not pay to win. You can still win with skill and luck, but getting better cards is definitely for those willing to pay
-
Man what I'd give for that ticket counter...lol....and that Beltran again
