Have to say I'm losing will power to play. At first i wasn't paying attention much to hitting but lately have started and it just seems everything is flukey. Like at what point does the game decide that your perfect PCI and good timing will be a hit vs a low ev contact. Then if you do square the ball up its a line drive out.
-
@Beaterrr_XBL this happened before I think it was 18 and that’s why they made the perfect perfect they were responding to ppl saying they weren’t getting rewarded for good gameplay. But this? I don’t know what this is the gameplay is bad in every way I wish there were an alternative baseball game at this point
-
I agree 100%. 25 online is probably the worst it's been in years. 22 & 18 were bad but this just isn't fun.
-
I’m sure there will be a person in this chat saying the copy and paste line of “it’s because it’s a power creek this year and people arnt used to not having 99s” haha

@doobiebross66-72_PSN I totally get this take 100%, but in my life I'm not good at a lot of things. For whatever reason in mlb 19 I was a top player. I could legit hang with & beat anyone in that game. Since mlb 20 my skills decrease with each release and I feel like I'm now below average at the 1 thing I was good at in my life. That's why I take it too serious.
I need to do better.

I’m positive that there’s other things in life you’re good at. Don’t condense that to just a video game
But I’m with you…I have beat YouTubers and streamers in years past. Always made World Series with relative ease. Went 24-0 in BR one year
But as I get older and have more responsibilities, I can tell that my skill level has also dipped a little. And while that may be hard to accept, ultimately, I still enjoy playing this game and enjoy it more when I’m not placing unnecessary pressure on myself

just to be sure this is about online play only? not offline right?
-
Case in point: just started my first WC game and I’m playing a demon. Down 5-0 already and playing on legend difficulty.
The old me would be extremely frustrated but I honestly don’t care. This dude is way better than me and it’ll be some good practice on Legend before game 2
-
@doobiebross66-72_PSN this is exactly how I have approached this game over the past two seasons.
To the point to where if I ever get to hitting on HOF online, I will lose games on purpose lol
I dont really care about my online record anymore and its made a more fun experience.

I've really enjoyed offline gameplay so far; it's actually not mind-numbingly boring, although I wish the CPU hitters were a little tougher. That's really my only gripe this year, and the RNG and lack of universal sliders in Diamond Quest and March to October. I've also played more RTTS than I have since '19.

Couldn’t agree more, this is by far the worst version of MLB the show i’ve ever played and it’s not relatively close. The hitting is so inconsistent with the game seemingly rewarding late timing and bad contact better than perfect perfects. Pitching this year is absolutely unbearable. Perfect pinpoints going right down the middle or nowhere near the PAR region, glitchy pitches going in the sky or dirt with no control, defenders making lackluster moves in the field with no real control over catching the ball or not. Everything about this game is broken and i’ve decided to sell my console instead of keeping playing this garbage any longer.

I agree. A lot of fluke this year. Most frustrating thing is the bloop hits when your opponent is down and perfect line outs when you’re up. Happens to everyone. Makes for a frustrating online experience. I really just have to play like who gives a [censored] online to enjoy this game and that’s hard lol. Offline the games not bad.
This is the stance I’ve learned to take. I used to care way too much about what my online record was
Who gives a [censored]?
My wife, son, family, friends….no one gives two shits if I went to them and said “I’m a World Series player on The Show, 22-6 record”
So why press and get so worked up over a game?
Trust me, I agree hitting can be frustrating but taking the approach of who gives a [censored] is the most enjoyable way to play online
Focus on what you can try to do to improve and whatever happens, happens
This is the way.

For the record I’m not the best. I’ll take my losses but when I’m in a game tearing the cover off the ball nonstop for outs and my opponent is just striking out and swinging at everything that’s not the level I lose. The level I lose is to guys 800+ I’m like a low level World Series player. I get there but I don’t compete there. But I’m losing to guys in the 3, 4 and 500s that I absolutely played better than. More patient. More consistent at bats better. Etc. I don’t get why. Why do they want this game to play this way?
-
@A_PerfectGame_PSN it started this way back when they went to cross play. It’s the same shady matchmaking used in COD. Keep everybody happy so they stay on the game longer and spend money.

What's a power creek? Is that different than a regular creek or a $h!t creek?

I think that's when you go to jump in for a swim and bounce off the water, and a breeze goes through the trees making it sound like they are laughing at it.

People just love defending them, for some reason, but, yeah, overall, it is probably the worst year since I've been playing (started with '16). It's honestly worse than '18, at this point. They are certainly doing a few things right, but a WHOLE lot wrong, and it seems to be getting worse, not better. And I don't think there's any question, from the standpoint of the actual functionality of the game itself, that this is EASILY the worst it has ever been. There is just SO much that either simply doesn't work or works badly. I don't know what they changed or who they fired, but they need to bring them back, because this, literally, isn't working.
-
I’d guess that they are either SDS employees on burner accounts, friends or family of employees, or people that define such a huge percentage of their lives by this game that any attack or criticism of the game is taken as a personal attack on them for which they simply can not stand for.
-
@LuvMyXBOX_XBL I think hitting sucks offline too. Couple that with jacked up reaction times and speed of even rookie CPU defenders and the game gets old quickly. Game will be stale before summer if they don’t fix the hitting.
-
@A_PerfectGame_PSN I’ll give you the pitching, and hitting is sometimes random but defensive is great. It literally makes perfect sense based on the animations and situations they are in. The throwing meter will be harder for some guys going into the holes than other guys. I really like the breaks on balls, it makes the little things matter when looking at a card now.
