Perfect perfect being outs compared to opponent having late homeruns
-
Yes definitely need some fine tuning a perfect perfect should get you on base at the very least
-
If any of you guys actually watched a real baseball game you would know that perfect perfects don't always result in a hit
-
@sbchamps17 This is not real life baseball it a video game. Your input and
results should matter. -
But it's based off of real baseball which is what everyone wanted
-
Same argument every year. Get use to it!
-
Results shouldn’t be RNG. Just remove perfect/perfect feedback from the game , sound and display. Problem solved.
Hitting this year is very inconsistent imo , at least be CPU. Seems like good or perfect pci placement with just late or just early can result in anything happening. Good and bad. I just want more consistency

After playing for about 9 days, I'd agree that they need to balance the output on good/bad swings. I'm finding myself far too many times saying "THAT was the hit?" when completing moments and rookie/veteran grinds. I'll hit consecutive perfects for outs; however, in-between that are TERRIBLE swings that should generate swing-and-misses but they end up as hard-contact XBHs.
I guess you could say that it evens out. If anything, bad feedback is probably rewarded more often than good feedback is punished.
-
I've said it before over the years and I'll continue to say it. The Swing Feedback indicator is the worst thing to happen to this game because there's no way it's 100% accurate. And it makes "input" result in mismatched "Output" all the time. I've been just early on pitches just barely into the outer third of the plate and made contact with the ball just at the plate and watched it pull a ball foul by 30'. Not saying it might have not ended up hooking foul at some point, but the physics just don't line up with what that feedback is saying. Check Swings called for strikes when my PCI is right on the ball. Well, if my timing is good and my pci is on the ball...And I clearly went around for it to be called a strike...shouldn't i have made some sort of contact with the ball?
-
They will never change the randomness in any sports game. If they solely made it based on timing and skill they'd lose the casual and less skilled gamers who probably spend more on stubs than the hard-core skilled players.

That’s not the feedback being broken. That’s a change made in 22 to how swing timing correlates with ball trajectory. Everybody hated 22 because of it and started playing custom max elevation ballparks to cope with it, only for SDS to flood 23 with minor league max elevation ballparks to try to hide it (and everybody responding by playing at them). With max elevation ballparks being nerfed in 25, it will probably become more noticeable again.
Every form of content structure released since that change in 22 has been hated, meaning all of 22, 23, and 24’s content. While content has had flaws, I doubt that it is because of the content itself. The live content and design teams would need to pull off a miracle to overcome the gameplay team’s stubbornness in refusing to walk back that change.

As a former third baseman, and current first baseman myself...no they absolutely should not. I've gone into "self preservation" mode on screamers hit right at my face and recorded the outs more times than I care to remember.

If I have it correct, perfect/perfect is about timing/pci placement. It doesn’t specifically incorporate perfect input from the pitcher, pitch type or attributes. If that is so, there are other variables in play that would result in a perfect/perfect not being a hit or HR. If you barrel a perfectly executed sinker, you’re still likely to hit it into the ground or line out.
I’m not an online competitive player, but I play all the time and know the game. It’s frustrating at times but feels like baseball too so it doesn’t bother me.
-
To be honest, hitting was better in MLB the show 24. Seems like there's been a nerf via the sliders.
I have diamond and gold Cardinals and I have had a run scoring drought vs cou on rookie. It's ridiculous
-
This is a tough one…I get what SDS is trying to do - Lessen homers. Because in real life 10% of all hits in MLB are homeruns. In this game it’s always been extremely high like 30-50%. They are trying to make it more realistic but the way they’re doing it is just pissing everyone off. I don’t have a solution to offer.
-
My guess is SDS turned down the hit chance of line drives and perfects (both liners and grounders) to make up for the fact that there would be more hit due to bad infielder reactions in order to keep scoring more reasonable). Of course it was a dumb move and plays awful, but that’s my guess and it seems to play out (more likely to get a hit this year on medium groundballs than perfects.

@Sarge1387 I get it I’ve been there I play softball competitively but in this virtual world I wanna believe “perfect perfect” actually means something and if it doesn’t then name it “perfect imperfect” or something to tell me aw you almost had it lol

They outta just remove this perfect mechanic thing . I grew up playing baseball and there is no such thing as a sure hit no matter how well your swing and timing is. A well hit ball can turn out to be an out . That's just the life of baseball . Anyone who has played softball/baseball in real life knows what I mean

Yep. I, too, think they should just scrap the terminology... largely because it's misleading. It isn't as if you've somehow managed "the perfect swing," as you'd think that might be good for more than a line out to a middle infielder. People get too hung up on the word "perfect," and, honestly, it is a poor choice of words that plays on peoples' expectations of perfection.
In reality, you've just timed it as well as you could have, and you've put the ball in the middle of your inner PCI, but as @bostondirtdog21 said, the trajectory of the pitch has a lot to do with where that "perfect" swing sends the ball. For a slider low and away, darting down toward the bottom right of the zone (right-handed batter), the swing resulting in the hardest possible hit might send that thing straight into the ground, heading somewhere toward the second baseman... which doesn't feel very perfect at all.
I'd say just change the sounds a bit. Time it well, get it in the middle, and hear the difference in the crack of the bat (like the sound that was weirdly applied to Josh Gibson). But enough with the "perfect/perfect"; it just engenders misunderstanding.
