Custom uniform problem after update 17
-
The update notes said "Jersey numbers will now display properly on the front of created jerseys when using font 2". My created jersey did not use font 2 and did not have a number on the front. However, in game, the jersey now has a number on the front. In addition, the name and number on the back no longer appear despite being selected in the customize menu.
I have tried several times to correct this by redoing the jersey and saving the changes, but to no avail. The number on the front cannot be removed despite selecting "none". The name and number on the back will not appear in any form.
Does anyone else have this problem? If so, have you found a workaround?

SDS should be absolutely ashamed of themselves! I'm a 61 year old man, and I've experienced decades of purchasing video games dating all the way back to the very first commercially available consoles released on the market. I've seen a lot of things, good, bad, and indifferent.
But, sizing up the state of the technology that existed at their respective times, what SDS is doing here is the single worst example of repeated gross incompetence I have ever seen. This update #17 only had a very few items in its press release. One of those few items was a promise to fix the bug that a previous update had caused with custom uniforms.
Well, not only did SDS fail to fix that previous bug, but with this latest code, they bugged up uniform number and name setups that were working fine before. Worse, this latest bug appears to run across all font options available for custom uniform design.
Now, since the only way to fix bugged up uniforms in Franchise with other teams is to restart the GM career from scratch, I have only two options -- to ignore this grossly unsightly current bug this update caused, or restart the career from the start and hope that SDS doesn't screw this up again, as they have now done twice before!
Crimminey, people! Is SDS run by adults or adolescents who simply don't know how to screw in a lightbulb correct! I mean one wants to be constructive in criticism, but when an update to fix a bug only makes the existing bug even worse, you realize you're dealing with people getting paid who are incapable of doing their jobs properly.

At least test the update before releasing it.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL this is one of the reasons I went back to 22 after season 2 began. 24 is too frustrating and not fun to play (for me).

Absolutely!
I mean the conclusion I have reached is to stop playing the game until this uniform bug is fixed. And that's a crying shame! Updates that worsen the game are the result of blind failure to conduct alpha testing before said updates are released.
At rock bottom, anything that is claimed to be fixed in an update should not be released until company alpha testers install the update, and then test out the result to ensure that, in fact, the issues have been fixed -- certainly not made even worse. That would have found the original bug introduced in custom uniforms back I think on update #14 over a month ago. It certainly would have found this far worse and across the board bug with custom uniforms now resulting from update #17.
I mean look, when you are a professional, meaning getting paid a living income to write computer code for a video game company, there is just a minimum level of acceptable performance standard. And what SDS has now done to sabotage their custom uniform options within the game fails to achieve that minimum performance level.

I had the same problem with mine, but noticed it was only that way for my road jerseys. Playing at home there was no uniform change
-
For me, it is both road and home uniforms, and in all the fonts. This was confirmed in my Franchise I tried to play today, because I was the home team and my uniforms were messed up, and the opponent was in their road uniforms, also messed up.
And the two teams' custom uniforms used different fonts.

After reading the above posts I fired up my custom franchise with all fictional teams and logos. Yep, NO numbers on the back of the jerseys! Worked fine before the patch. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Where is the quality control with this company!

So sick of this uniform BS.

Appreciate you testing this out, because it confirmed that this bug isn't related to a coding issue that could be corrected by reindexing the uniforms. So, this confirms for me that there is no point to redoing the custom uniforms in Franchise team setup and starting my GM career over.
-
@Victor_SDS_MLBTS Any updates on this? It's quite annoying to see you've "fixed" one bug while causing another, more obvious one
-
Hopefully a fix comes soon. Until that happens I'm back to playing CFB 25 and MLB The Show 23 where I have a college franchise going.
-
This is a bad look with CFB 25 out and Madden 25 on the doorstep to being launched. Fix this SDS. It’s asinine.

This worked for me.
I started a new franchise loaded my custom team, edited the jersey number font on both the home and away jerseys saved the team, started the franchise played a home and away game simulating both exited out this franchise without saving then reloaded my old one.

I think this worked for me as well, but in addition, allowed me to reindex the custom team setups for all 30 teams, not merely the one that I am the GM for.
What I did was to relink my previous 30 saved custom team files and applied each previous custom team save to each of the 30 teams. I did not bother to make any changes to the custom setup items but instead use the data from the previous saves. I then, as you suggested, go in direct to the regular season and play a road game to completion (in my case using my normal selection of lock player) and then the same for a home game.
Since I had previously used all the Franchise mode save slots, the game would not allow me to save the data from any of these games, and in fact even alerted me that before it would auto save, I had to first delete one of the previous save slots for Franchise data. However, what I did next was back out to the main MLB The Show menu, move the cursor to highlight over Franchise game mode, but not start it. Instead, while hovered over Franchise mode, I clicked the X button on my controller to bring up the Franchise menu option, and selected the option to load a previous save Franchise mode.
That did the trick! I was right back where I left off before this uniform corruption happened, and it seems that all the uniforms for all 30 custom teams are correct again.
Interestingly, I think this could be done to modify the custom team setups (uniforms included) for any of the 30 teams.
-
This technique did work to clear up the uniform issues. Not only for the team assigned for me to GM, but all the other teams as well. I have a league where all 30 teams wear custom uniforms. So, this was a huge issue when it first arose and this update #17 made it far worse. But, this cleaned it all up, and I was able to pick up my Franchise league where I left it when update #17 was installed.
However, to clarify one other point, this technique does not allow one to amend the custom uniforms for the 29 teams you are not the GM for. And you can still "rebrand" your own team in Franchise each off season after the World Series concludes. However, while you can amend the file that is saved for the team, the code execution for the teams uses the file details for the custom teams as it was when the league was first started.
