Your early plans for Season/Set 2
-
So, I get it that most of us are pretty bummed about the way 2024 is shaping up. That said, for you long-timers out here, what are your plans for the new Season/Set starting June 7th?
I think I burned myself out during Season 1. I'm caught up with all the programs, I finished BR and RS programs 1 - 3 (didn't really play any Events as I didn't find the rewards... rewarding). I'm caught up with all relevant CQ maps. I have enough stubs/cards to get the last few teams for the LS collection, but I'm holding out to see if there are any price spikes for the Core cards I invested in.
Beyond that... I will play, but I'm not going to rush through anything. I'll play just the stuff I like. I do like Co-op with my son and his friends (when it works, it's great). It just stinks that it's May, and I'm already wondering if 2025 will be better.
Anyway - what are your plans? Sticking with MLBTS? Moving on to NCAA Football? Touching grass?

Well, June 7th is my birthday, so heavy substance abuse and a kinky gift from the wife. Maybe I'll have time for The Show.

"Happy Birthday! We've taken the step of making all your cards invalid. You're welcome.
Love, SDS"

So ... playing Co-Op?

I'll definitely be taking my time with finishing stuff to, that's how I've been approaching this year already and it's made it better in terms of the lack of programs etc. In some ways its been nice to not feel like its a second job trying to keep up with everything (but I still think more programs would have been nice). I'll mostly just knock out TA to start. I'm a firm believer in not buying any stubs/packs so TA is how I get most of my players anyway.
Since everything is resetting anyway, I am also going to change up my team name, uniforms, colors, etc. to try and make it feel "new". If we're going to have to reset might as well try to make it enjoyable and feel fresh.

i'll play for 39 days. i'm not going to push, as on that 39th day a game i've been waiting 10+ years for is coming out. So i'm not going to make a game feel like a job during "season 2" that i know i probably wont finish strong with. Will i be back, probably, maybe, honestly idk. IF EA puts actual work and non madden ideas into NCAA 25, i might not be back til Feb for 25, if EA tries the same thing as they do with madden, i'll be back sooner. Bottomline i'm writing Season 2 off as i know i'll be missing a chunk of it.

Im gonna grind MTO for the next week and a half to get a jump start on some of the divisions. I'll get to a few days before the AS break, start a new save with a new team...then when season 2 drops, fly through the second half of the season and the postseason

I forgot about MTO - I think I have a Dodgers run where I'm just about to go into the postseason...
-
Do you get anything for completing MTO? If so are there any cards you get from completing a season? This is my first time on MLB the show.
-
I put together a squad of all Core cards to see how it looks for day one, and, it's not too bad
There's some cards I had completely forgotten about already, that were great early power creep cards. All Star Bernie Williams,
Hyper Beltre and Griffey,
That Captain's Captain Jeter card. -
@SupremeKai_510 Progress towards team affinity mid way through the season, at the end of the season and after each playoff series. You can pre load them and finish them when the new season comes out to get a jump on the new team affinity.
-
@BJDUBBYAH I’ve been doing the same thing. I’m thinking of wild carding the David Ortiz captain with some of the subway series players and stacking the Yankees pitching captain.
-
I just got my first collection reward, and first XP boss. I'm going to save stubs, and put a CORE team together now for season 2. I love this game, but will let Season 2 be the decider if I quit early this year. That's something I can't imagine, but I have EASHL to fall back on, even when the NHL playoffs end as that's the only game I play out of season. Go Stars!!

@Easy_Duhz_It_ the payout is at the end of the run, not at the AS break and the end?

No you get it at the AS break, end of season, end of DS, CS and WS. Thats why i stop a few games before the break.
-
@yankblan What is the payout to wait at AS and at the end of season?

You get TA points depending on the difficulty and depending on how well you're doing.
beginner-rookie :
All Star break : 5000-10,000
End of season : 5000-10,000
Division Series win : 5000
LCS win : 7500
World Series win : 10,000Harder difficulties get you substantially more.
-
@Easy_Duhz_It_ If you can win most of the time on all star difficulty, that’s the sweet spot.
