List of MLB the Show/DD problems
-
This post will go over different catogories within mlb the show. Anything marked at the end with L is considered a Legacy issue, meaning this issue spans across multiple years and has not been fixed.
Gameplay:
L- Fielder urgency still consistently lacks, from fielders acting like they have never seen a ball hit off a wall before, players waiting for the ball, double tapping the glove when they need to throw quickly.L- even though it seems by design, hitting still has its issues. Balls in the corner of the zone on higher difficulty shrink the pci so small that it's basically rng when its hit. Then on outside pitches if you actually hit them to the opposite field it is considered a "slightly late" swing, while rolling over on the same pitch will result in hrs. This was actually fixed during the very 1st patch on mlb the show 18, but for some reason they decided to take away pop to the opposite field. Also, if a pitch is placed just off the coner of the box the game rounds off the pci movement too harshly and it does not allow you to get under, or put the pci dot on the ball
L- I think everyone in the community has been asking sds to reduce the amount of foul balls for years, they keep it this way so the casuals who swing at everything can stay in the game.
"L"- even though it is relatively new, it is really a shame that sds consistently ignores the co-op mode when it has some of the best potential in the game. Games still often end in freezeoffs, and not only that you get banned if you want to leave! So sds doesn't fix their game glitching, and punishes players when it happens? That makes a lot of sense.....
Also don't know why the "classic" pci and the one burst was removed they were by far my favorite to use. Not really sure why you can't just have all of them in the game.
Non gameplay issues:
New problem: with the introduction of seasons last year, sds has decided to make MLB The Shop 24. With the game centered around these new 40k packs. These packs legitimately have a worse return on investment than sitting at an actual casino. With these packs often being 1/4 or 1/5 chance for the higher round you'll in theory go broke faster sitting there opening MLB packs than you will sitting at a blackjack table. Keep in mind this game is rated E for everyone meaning it's designed for children to play as well.
L- Along with the idea of packs, why do we see almost all the same players every year? "BUT SDS DOES ADD NEW PLAYERS!", the sad truth is we have seen just as many players dissappear from the game as we have seen players added and mlb the show only makes more money every year, so it can't be justified that they only add a few players here and there. At this point our "new" cards are just cards from the older games because they don't have enough actual new content to fill the game with.
This was just a short summary, I really could go on and on. In short, sds needs to put forth way more effort than what they are providing to the community, and every update is pretty much a nothing burger.

Incoming SDS simps with " get good. The game is perfect. You're just bad." Comments

@AdeptOfMemory nah dude, that’s just you. He makes fair points without insults or conspiracy theories. We can agree or disagree on some or all of them, but criticism doesn’t have to be all bad.
OP, I’ll add to your list:
L: balls bouncing on the grass on a lazy pop fly over the head of your fielders like it’s concrete;
L: expiring programs;
New(?): when filling out bench, can’t filter by position.
L: the slow phasing out of “play how you want to play”. I don’t mean rewards being locked behind modes (online vs offline), but having to complete tasks on modes you don’t want to.
-
L: Mini season stats. It can't be that hard to reset and calculate each season's stats correctly. I mean... You have to get stats right. This is baseball after all.
-
@yankblan he’s not wrong though. Just because he says things in ways y’all don’t like doesn’t mean it’s incorrect.
-
@yankblan like I said, I could go on and on. Been playing the show since it was 989 studios making the game. Some issues are repeated issues that the community has asked for, and they even said they fixed Fielder urgency, but I'm seeing the same fielding animations as mlb the show 15 and wondering why they are still there when they are problem animations.
-
It would also be wonderful if sds would actually interact with their community on the forum, but they usually don't unless the moderator gets offended or it is an issue they need to hotfix. I've seen this forum every year as well.

@Wildthingwilly this!
There are the occasional ones but it's only ever the ones related to account things or things preventing you from using their market -
@Wildthingwilly Great Post!
I have to wonder what changes are going to come when SDS can finally ditch last gen consoles?
I’d hope we see a massive overhaul, with focus on the things you’ve outlined.

The disgusting part is this is exactly why it's constructed this way, they know children are vulnerable to the microtransaction style of "gambling" for players in packs. It's the exact thing EA caught h3ll for a few years ago.
-
@Wildthingwilly SDS doesn't have devs. They have marketers and some people who made an app for Android Gingerbread.
The problems we have can't be corrected with one thing like "needs to be all next gen consoles" or "it's cross play that's the problem". Other games do just fine with old gen and cross platform play even across to PC/Steam. So it's not a platform issue.
It's critical programing of the game that these SDS marketers can't and won't fix. Until they stop making money from stubs they won't do a [censored] thing. -
How about the amazing fielding ability of all the pitchers. Behind their back, perfect/perfects being snagged. Once in a while they could do this but every time you time a ball up the middle?

Still waiting for this to happen. I’ll continue to wait.
You truly are a sad person. Seek help.

@BJDUBBYAH Those people used to frequent the forums a lot actually. There's a lot less of those people now as the games issues become harder to defend.

@BJDUBBYAH_PSN
Ok all differences aside you gotta admit that is fu¢k1ng HILARIOUS considering the circumstances. -
@AdeptOfMemory no thanks. Seek help. You’re a truly sad person. Who spends their entire day yelling at strangers in the internet.

Currently i'm having problem with TA Mini Seasons, can not advance past the awards menu (same problem last year).. any ideas how to fix that? ( I know i have to hold A to skip) that hasn't been working.
-
@bryan44177 It's what I said; except a lot of stuff is completely made up or talking out of his a.s.s. I mean, you hate the game, fair, I won't dispute that, but move on. For your own sanity.
-
@KoldChills17 "L"- its been a problem since mini seasons was introduced. Coach told me I'm supposed to tell you it's a skill issue or something.
