Actually a few years back you had too if you wanted to unlock better cards. Before moments existed you had to achieve a certain amount of hits or HRs, or strike outs with say a bronze Robin Yount to unlock a silver Yount, and then you had to achieve something with that to achieve gold and so on. Sure most people did that grinding offline in conquest but they did it to get that Diamond Yount or whomever for their Ranked online team. It was way more fun than the last 3 years
MLB 18 was the worst installment of MLB the Show in history.
I actually prefer stat grind to moments, but that is completely personal preference and I assume I'm in the minority. I had no problem with DD format of 18. Game play on the other hand was trash. So I have no problems saying 18 was the worst.

@nflman2033 18 the best cards required an insane amount of grinding plus you had to collect useless items like bobble heads, uniforms that you couldn't even wear etc. That game required a lot of grinding, Finest cards in that game weren't even 99's. Dont let you recency bias trick you.

Oh I remember. I made mass stubs from selling Souvenirs. All I has to do was exchange the crappy Souvenirs for teams that didn't have players to use them on to get packs of Souvenirs, there was about 5 or 6 teams that had insane market prices I sold those on the market after I used them to unlock the players. I unlocked everyone pretty quickly.
The stat grinding was a lot, but it made me have to keep playing since I only play CPU. And I absolutely hate Moments, the only thing I hate more than Moments is Showdown. Even to this day I mostly get through programs by stat grinding rather than moments and Showdown. But like I said I accept I am in the minority.

I honestly don't think we'll be getting 30 99 overalls in team affinity, we haven't even gotten 98s yet. I could see the cards being 97s and once you complete each division you can get a 99. I think we'll be getting 3 to 6 99 overalls, which is better than what we have now, but I'm not optimistic.

I was skeptical myself but someone said they already revealed 3 of the cards and they were 99's of Edgar and forget the other two.

You mean, the cards with the highest overall rating are in packs, which is still only partially true. The highest overall rated cards released so far are in collections and the XP Reward path.
The “best” cards are really up to the user. Just because the rating is higher, doesn’t make it better. It’s how you do with it.

I would say 80 to 90% of the Better / best cards are locked behind the shop and other means. This is a FACT and your still a homer but whatever -- you do you.

We agree to disagree and I am done trying to talk common sense to homers cause you find a way to make what SDS is doing is alright when it's not. Your right in one sense some players can make "lesser" cards work but I bet and I could be wrong but I bet most of the "Top" players have at least 3 to 5 of the shop cards in the lineup right now.
Prove me wrong and I will Shut the BEEP up about this .....

I have the game on right now but not playing -- I have played a lot but not that much but I know that is what is logged for me cause i do leave it running while doing other things. However even IF that number is true and again it's not in terms of actual play but you not willing to even debate me proves my point. -- thanks homer
